Al Roker Has Missed Several Days On ‘Today’ Show, Is He OK?
Viewers have noticed that Al Roker has been surprisingly absent from Today. Since then, fans have become worried about the prolific journalist. In the interim, two familiar faces have also been filling in for Roker.
Al Roker Has Been Missing From Today Since August 18, 2025
For many, Roker is best known as a weatherman, being one of the most iconic meteorologists in media. Thanks to this, he has been an integral part of Today for years.

However, fans have noticed that Roker has been absent from the talk show as of late, having been missing since Monday, August 18. Since then, a few of Roker’s co-stars have been taking over his duties on Today, including Dylan Dreyer and Savannah Sellers.
Roker’s co-stars have also been gradually explaining the situation. During the Tuesday show, Craig Melvin revealed that Roker was enjoying “one of his 16 weeks of vacation.”
Savannah Guthrie Also Wished Al Roker A Happy Birthday On Instagram
The following day, Dreyer shared that he is celebrating his birthday. During the episode, it was shared that his co-stars FaceTimed with him that morning.
Savannah Guthrie assured, “He’s having a great birthday. We love you, Al, wherever you are in the world!” Guthrie also shared an image of Roker with his colleagues on Instagram with a caption reading, “Happiest birthday to the life of our party – our sunshine @alroker.” For his part, Melvin also shared, “Well deserved. Happy birthday, bud.”

Meanwhile, Roker’s wife and fellow journalist Deborah Roberts shared that they were enjoying time in Europe. In a recent post on Instagram, she shared a series of photos with a caption, “The beauty of Italy in August. Sunny. Quiet. Lovely.” As noted by People, Roker could also be seen enjoying cake and champagne as the couple was celebrating both their vacation and his special day.
Roker’s colleagues aren’t the only ones sending well-wishes to him. Fans have also been taking to social media to wish Roker a happy birthday. Some comments included:
