In the meantime, Kelly Clarkson announced a short calendar of shows in Las Vegas. The residency was supposed to start earlier this month. However, the singer had to cancel at the last minute due to concerns about her voice. In a rare occurrence, the move sparked major backlash against America’s Sweetheart after fans were out thousands of dollars after traveling to Las Vegas for the canceled shows.
The show did eventually go on, and by all accounts, Kelly Clarkson’s voice was as amazing as usual.
Kelly Clarkson Gets Dolly Parton’s Approval For Cover Song
Kelly Clarkson isn’t the only one taking over Las Vegas this year. Dolly Parton herself has a residency later this year, her first tour since 2016. While Dolly Parton’s residency doesn’t start until December, it’s already being promoted in Las Vegas.
Kelly Clarkson shared a photo on social media of an advertisement for Dolly’s residency under an advertisement for her own. She captioned the post, “I think this is a sign I should cover a Dolly song at one of my shows…. but which song?”
Fans flooded the comments with suggestions, but then Dolly Parton hushed them all by replying to the post. “Hey Kelly, I think you should sing “I Will Always Love You” because I think you do one of the best versions of that song that I have ever heard… Whitney and I would both be proud,” the icon wrote.
Kelly Clarkson took the words to heart. Multiple fans in attendance have reported that she did perform “I Will Always Love You” like Dolly Parton suggested.

An insider spilled to Star magazine that Dolly Parton has reached out to Kelly Clarkson to offer support and words of advice. “Dolly’s calling and checking in with Kelly and offering support. She wants to get together and have a talk, just the two of them, without any interruptions,” the source claimed.
