‘AGT’ Simon Cowell Worries About Protecting His 11-Year-Old Son
Simon Cowell has been part of various shows over the years, in which he’s had various roles, from judge to series creator. However, the America’s Got Talent judge has another important role in his life: the father to an eleven-year-old son. Recently, Cowell has opened up about fatherhood, including concerns he has for his son’s future.
Simon Cowell Recently Opened Up About His Son Eric With This Morning‘s Jeff Brazier
Cowell has made a career as a judge of various competition shows across two continents. His resume includes shows like Pop Idol, American Idol, The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, and America’s Got Talent.
In 2014, Cowell became a father with the birth of his son Eric. Simon and Eric’s mother, Lauren Silverman, confirmed their engagement in early 2022.

Recently, Eric gave viewers a surprise when he appeared on Britain’s Got Talent. At the time, he appeared with his father on stage, even getting to press the Golden Buzzer himself.
Over the years, Simon has usually remained private about his family life. However, as noted by The Mirror, he recently opened up about his son in an interview with This Morning‘s Jeff Brazier.
Simon assured how happy he was to have his son in his life. As he shared, “Honestly, everything. Out of everything I’ve ever done in my life, this is the best thing to ever happen to me. The very first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed.”
That said, Simon shared his concerns about his son growing up in today’s day and age, especially in a world heavily reliant on technology. He shared, “We’re getting to a point where the word phone comes up. ‘Oh god, here we go.'”
“I’m very worried Jeff, about how much kids can see at a certain age. I grew up…Which was learning things at the right time, the right age… I just would be petrified of him having access to anything, that would really worry me.”

Simon also opened up about the pressures kids go through while living their everyday lives. He shared, “I think schools put too much pressure on kids, which is, you’re getting up at seven in the morning, you’re coming home say at five, six in the afternoon, evening and then you’ve got to do two hours of homework.”
Simon also mused about how quickly time goes. He added, “It’s like, they’re ten, eleven, twelve years old. It’s too much. I would say to any teacher watching, ban homework, you’ll have happier kids and they’ll do better.”

Considering his own competition series background, Simon was asked how he would feel about his son wanting to become an “idol.” He shared, “I’ve thought about this. What if he said to me, ‘I want to be a singer’ and he couldn’t sing, I would be absolutely honest with him. If he couldn’t, I would say, ‘You know what, be a drummer.'”
“He actually can play the drums well but he’s quite shy. You know, I walk and I hear him, and he stops. I say, ‘Why are you stopping?’ and he says, ‘Well, I’m a bit embarrassed’ and I say, ‘Well don’t be, you’re really good.”
