‘Bachelor’ Franchise Teams Up With HGTV For Unique Competition
Bachelor Nation fans don’t know when The Bachelor or The Bachelorette will return. ABC put The Bachelorette on pause and has yet to renew The Bachelor for Season 30. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing on the network for fans of the franchise to watch. A new Bachelor In Paradise season premieres in July, followed by The Golden Bachelor this fall. And there’s something completely new and unexpected in works, too. In a huge crossover event, the Bachelor franchise is teaming up with HGTV for a unique reality TV competition. Keep reading for all the details.
Signs ABC Isn’t Giving Up On Popular Reality TV Brand Yet
If you ask Bachelor Nation fans, many would say that the franchise has been in a steep decline for years. The show first premiered in 2002 and was top-tier television. But some fans don’t feel that the show has changed with the times at all. One constant complaint is the lack of diversity. There have only been two Black Bachelor leads in 29 seasons.
The show got a big boost with Joey Graziadei, who headlined Season 28. Fans were also very optimistic about the 2023 Golden Bachelor spinoff. However, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s sudden split after just three months of marriage put the future of the franchise in question.
But it seems ABC isn’t ready to cancel the franchise completely. Bachelor In Paradise was put on pause for the 2024 season and will finally return this summer. Despite the failure of the first Golden Bachelor season, the senior spinoff gets another shot this fall with former NFL player Mel Owens.
Now the network has unveiled plans for a collaboration with HGTV.
Bachelor Franchise Teams Up With HGTV For Unique Competition
HGTV is a popular network that focuses on real estate and home improvements with shows like House Hunters and Fixer Upper. What’s that got to do with a reality TV dating show? As longtime Bachelor Nation viewers know, there is a famed mansion in Los Angeles that the show films at.
While the crew on the ABC shows do their best to make the mansion look flawless, some cracks have been showing in recent years. ABC is teaming up with Warner Bros., which owns HGTV for a new reality competition to give the mansion a much-needed upgrade.
The twist? Bachelor Nation stars will compete on the show for a cash prize. Renovating the Bachelor Mansion is the working title for the project. According to TODAY, it’s expected to air on both HGTV and ABC sometime in 2026. There’s no word on which stars from the dating franchise will join the competition. But Bachelorette runner-up Tyler Cameron works as a general contractor and renovates homes in Florida as a career now. His work was documented on the Amazon series Going Home With Tyler Cameron.
Season 28 Bachelor Joey Graziadei previously teased his return to TV. Perhaps he will join the renovation show.
