‘9-1-1: Nashville’ Casts Beloved ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star
Fans of the 9-1-1 franchise will soon get a new series, 9-1-1: Nashville. Filming for the series is expected to take place later this year. However, a prominent star is already attached and it’s someone Grey’s Anatomy fans may know well.
The 9-1-1 Franchise Has Expanded To Look At First Responders Throughout The United States
The 9-1-1 franchise started with the 2018 series of the same name. Originally running until 2023 on Fox, the series later moved to ABC in 2024. The original series looks at the lives and work of first responders in Los Angeles.
However, spin-offs have allowed the franchise to branch out and look at first responders throughout the country. The first spin-off had been 9-1-1: Lone Star, which took place in Austin, Texas. This series ran from 2020 to 2025 on Fox, finishing its run this past February.
Following this series, a second spin-off had been announced. Early on, settings like Las Vegas and Hawaii were considered. However, it was decided the third series would be 9-1-1: Nashville. A production list later confirmed that the series would start filming towards the end of June 2025.
Deadline has already confirmed a few of the spin-off’s cast members. Back in March, the publication confirmed that Chris O’Donnell of NCIS: Los Angeles was cast as Captain Don Sharpe, making him the first cast member announced for the series. At the time, he was described as a “rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son.” In addition, “Don’s a devoted husband and family man but he has his secrets.”
The Grey’s Anatomy Alum Also Announced The Casting On Social Media
However, another cast member has recently been announced. The new addition is someone that Grey’s Anatomy fans should know quite well.
Deadline also recently confirmed Jessica Capshaw will also be starring in the series alongside O’Donnell. Capshaw and O’Donnell will play husband and wife on the show. Capshaw’s character is also the mother of the series’ lead character Ryan, who currently remains uncast.
