‘SNL’ Pokes Fun At Morgan Wallen’s Walk-Off

Saturday Night Live recently made headlines when musical guest Morgan Wallen seemed too eager to leave the set. Since then, the sketch comedy decided to poke fun at what happened during its most recent episode. Notably, the series wasn’t done after taking one shot against the singer.
The Country Singer Had Previously Shared ‘Get Me To God’s Country’ On Social Media After His Saturday Night Live Appearance
Morgan Wallen had previously appeared during the March 29 episode. He served as the episode’s musical guest, which also featured Mikey Madison as the night’s host.
Towards the episode’s end, Wallen notably left the stage, right past the camera, before things reached to a close. Notably, shortly after, Wallen shared a post on Instagram Stories, sharing an image of a plane. In a caption over the jet, he wrote, “Get me to God’s country.”
As noted by People, the series poked fun at what had happened twice during its recent episode airing April 5. This time, actor Jack Black served as the Saturday Night Live guest host, with Elton John and Brandi Carlile serving as the musical guests.
The first joke was made during the episode’s cold open. During the skit, James Austin Johnson was portraying President Donald Trump and made a nod to Wallen’s “God’s country” comment.
In a speech, Johnson shared, while speaking as the president, “I even put tariffs on an island uninhabited by humans. It’s called Heard and McDonald Island. McDonald Island. I would love to visit there. Can you imagine that? Big Mac and a hula skirt. Get me to God’s country, right? Remember that?”
Sources Close To Morgan Wallen Have Also Recently Weighed In On The Story, With Wallen Himself Making An Indirect Response
However, this wasn’t the only nod to Wallen during the episode. During the recurring Weekend Update sketch, segment co-host Colin Jost touched on what happened more directly, even referring to the country star by name.
While talking about the economy, Jost shared, “This was the worst week for the stock market since the summer of 2020. But you have to remember — back then, the president was also Trump. Just in the past two days, investors have lost over $6 trillion. Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights.”

According to Variety, an inside source has also recently discussed Wallen walking off the set. As they claimed, Wallen wasn’t thinking about the cameras by when he made his Saturday Night Live exit and denied there was any underlying meaning to his early exit. According to the publication, “it was simply an ‘oops’ moment that everyone on hand had a laugh about.”
For his part, Wallen has also tried to have a sense of humor over the Saturday Night Live incident. Notably, he has been selling merchandise with the logo “Get me to God’s country” on his website.
