‘Days Of Our Lives’ Is EJ DiMera Leaving Salem?
EJ DiMera has been making quite a few enemies in Salem, including ones in his own family. Thanks to this, fans are starting to wonder if the character might soon be leaving the soap. While one clue might hint at EJ’s fate, this also comes out as a few cast changes are expected to take place on Days of Our Lives.
Days Of Our Lives Think Salem Might Not Be Safe For EJ
EJ has been portrayed by a variety of actors over the years. In true soap opera tradition, the character was initially played by child actors before being aged up.
James Cott portrayed the character from 2006 to 2014. In 2018, the character was briefly played by Trey Baxter. Most recently, Dan Feuerriegel has played the character since 2021.
On the soap, EJ is the son of crime boss Stefano DiMera and Susan Banks. The character has been the subject of various storylines on the show, such as his controversial relationship with Sami Brady.
Some fans are starting to think they’ll soon see the last of EJ. After all, recent events on the soap have shown EJ develop more and more enemies in Salem.
The list of characters against EJ at one point even included his own son, Johnny, after he learned how he was conceived. A confrontation even saw Johnny slap his father during a confrontation. However, EJ wants to make amends.
That said, fans have a good reason to believe EJ is staying in Salem. At the very least, his current actor, Dan Feuerriegel, appears to be staying on Days of Our Lives.
On Instagram, Feuerriegel shared a video of the soap’s 60th anniversary photoshoot, where he could be seen standing with his cast mates.
As the actor wrote in the caption, “A little [behind the scenes] of our 60th anniversary photoshoot. Can’t wait for you to see the final product. I’m like, totally handsome in it. And I guess AnnaLynne & Billy look good as well.”
Some Casting Changes Are Still Expected For Days Of Our Lives
Notably, this event was being used to celebrate Days of Our Lives‘ 60th anniversary this upcoming November. At the very least, this suggests EJ will remain part of the soap at least until then.
Besides, even if something were to happen to EJ, characters can walk back from anything on a soap. This is especially true for EJ. As fans may recall, at one point, EJ was presumably killed by his bodyguard Clyde, only to eventually turn up alive again.

However, while EJ might be safe for now, fans can still expect at least one casting change in the upcoming months. As Monsters & Critics noted, Emily O’Brien is set to make a switch between her characters on the soap, going from Theresa to Gwen. O’Brien joined the soap in 2020 as Gwen, before taking over the role of Theresa in 2023.
In addition, as previously reported, Billy Flynn, who played the character of Chad DiMera, was said to be leaving Days of Our Lives for a part on The Young & the Restless. Speaking with TV Insider, Flynn shared, “I am grateful for my years at Days. It changed my life in the best ways.”
“I’ve always said these stories we tell are like doing a play, and I’ve spent the last 10-plus years playing this amazing character and telling one of the all-time great love stories. And now I’m excited for this opportunity and to test myself in a new way.”
