‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Player Wins Big After 10-Year Pursuit To Get On Show
Last week, a player on Wheel of Fortune told Ryan Seacrest a special story. According to the player, Randy, he had been trying to get onto the show for the last 10 years. He even told Ryan he didn’t need the Bonus Round rules explained because he was well-versed in everything WoF.
Here is what Randy had to say and how his night ended when he finally made it into the popular game show.
Man Reaches Wheel Of Fortune Dream After 10 Years
Randy Bird appeared on Wheel of Fortune on Wednesday. It was a big deal for him because this was a long-time dream. When Randy was ready to play the Bonus Round, he told Ryan he knew the rules. He admitted to trying to get onto the show for 10 years. This night culminated that dream.
After his appearance on the show, the man went home with $77,049 in total prizes and a trip to Ireland.
“I’ve watched Wheel of Fortune since the days of shopping for merchandise in the 1980s. It’s been a dream of mine, for all my life, to be on a game show, but this one specifically, it was such a big part of my formative years,” Randy said in an interview after the show (via WPXI News). “I’ve been trying out for more than 10 years now, and I finally got my chance, and it went so much better than I ever dreamed it would.”
The man had a big dream, and what happened on the show was even bigger than he might have expected.
How Did Randy Do On Wheel Of Fortune?
Randy dominated most of the game, and when he finally made it to the Bonus Round, he had won $37,049 with a trip to Ireland and had a chance for more with the last puzzle. When Ryan Seacrest walked to the puzzle with him, Randy was ready to win big on Wheel of Fortune.
Ryan complimented Randy on how much he had already won, and the contestant said it was “amazing.” “I can’t believe it,” he said. Randy showed that his wife was there cheering him on, saying she was “patient” because she puts up with him. Randy spun the wheel and then went to the main board for the Bonus Round.
Randy chose “What Are You Doing?” After getting the free letters (R, S, T, L, N, E), the board read, “—N–N- / –T–TS.” Randy looked at the board and chose the letters: “P, G, H, O.” This gave Randy lots of letters. It now read, “-H-HG-NG / O-T–TS.”
Ryan started the 10-second clock. Randy immediately said, “Changing Outfits,” without even pausing. Ryan said, “You can do no wrong. ” He gave him a high five, shook his hand, and hugged him. He opened the envelope, and it was $40,000. Randy then began to tear up as his wife hugged him.
“This is a dream come true,” Randy told Ryan. “I’ve been trying out for 10 years now. I’m so grateful to have had this chance. I can’t thank you enough.”
