Blue Bloods: Tom Selleck Was A Huge Part Of What Made The Show Successful
When you have an ensemble, all-star cast like the one that Blue Bloods had for many years, there are a lot of moving parts to balance, and a lot of egos to manage. At the forefront of that was Hollywood legend, Tom Selleck.
Tom Selleck stepped into the shoes of New York police commissioner Frank Reagan. Many viewers already loved Selleck as an actor for decades. However, his stoic, powerful turn as Frank Reagan not only made his existing fans happy, but, it also introduced him to a whole new generation of viewers who quickly became new fans.
Selleck Was Not Happy With Blue Bloods Cancelation
When it was first announced that Blue Bloods would be ending after the most recent season of the beloved show, fans were in uproar, and understandably so. With its viewing numbers and overall popularity, the show could have easily continued for another five to ten seasons.
Many of the actors on the show, including Tom Selleck, were very vocal about being unhappy with the show getting the boot. Many of the cast members spent time together away from the set, and the entire cast and crew became a big family after so many years working on the show together.
For many viewers, watching an episode of Blue Bloods was part of their own family dinner ritual, much like the characters getting together for family dinner. So, in this aspect, art and life were on the same page when it came to this fan-favorite cop drama.
Tom Selleck Making Big Return To Television
With many Blue Bloods fans still mourning the cancelation of their favorite show, it turns out that Tom Selleck is returning to television in a big way. Some fans felt Selleck could retire following the ending of Blue Bloods, as he is up there in age, and there have been reports of him struggling with his health.
However, it looks like he is not letting any of these setbacks stop him from returning to television, in a role that he has made famous for many years. Selleck turned 80 years old this past January, and, based on the latest updates, Selleck will appear in another film for the Jesse Stone franchise.
This is a franchise he has worked on before, and from the looks of it, there is a film that is still in development as another installment of this popular franchise. The upcoming project is going to be produced by the Hallmark Channel, and it will be the tenth film in the franchise.
So, while this may not entirely fill the void that the Blue Bloods cancelation left, it’s certainly something else for the actor’s fans to look forward to.
