'The Masked Singer': Who Is The Griffin?

The Masked Singer has just introduced a new list of costumed characters with Season 13 recently debuting Group B. The name of the game is guessing just who is who behind each voice heard on the show. Currently, fans are trying to figure out who the Griffin could possibly be.

The Griffin, A Creature Of Legend, Reveals He Is ‘Only Human’

The Griffin is designed after a mythological being, serving as a hybrid between a lion and an eagle. In essence, the figure combines the king of the beasts with the king of the skies.

In a “clues” video, the Griffin’s performer, hides behind a silver mask, to explain the “amazing” costume. As they describe it, their character is “part eagle, part lion, and one heck of a mythical creature. I can relate to that.”

Appearing to soar in the skies, the Griffin noted, “When you become a star, you’re treated like a god.” Of course, that also means, “Everybody wants to get a piece.” The Griffin then showed off a Masked Singer badge.

The Griffin continued, “When I skyrocketed to overnight success, I wasn’t prepared for the fandom, the adoration. Little did I know that first hit would immortalize me.” While flying, however, the Griffin soon gets knocked out by a bell with a sign, “School’s Out.” He even noted a fan who wanted dirt from his car to take to her children.

The Griffin admitted, however, “The truth is, I’m only human. And I was reminded of that recently.” He could then be seen grabbing a VHS tape with a jack-o-lantern on top of it.

The Griffin continued, “The future I saw in the stars was all being rewritten. Now, I know, man, this life is so precious, and I take every opportunity that comes my way like this tonight.”

“I’m channeling the strength of Hercules because my resilience has gotten me through and from here on out, I’m writing my own story.”

For Some, The Halloween Tape Could Be The Biggest Clue

For their big debut, the character sang “Rewrite the Stars” by Zac Efron & Zendaya. The four panelists, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora, are already throwing out their guesses.

Some guesses include Matthew Lillard, Freddie Prinze Jr., and David Arquette. For many, it seemed like the Halloween-themed tape was seen as the biggest tip off. Matthew Lillard and Freddie Prinze Jr. notably appeared in the live-action 2000s Scooby-Doo films.

For their part, Gold Derby supported the idea of it being Arquette. Notably, he had gained widespread fame for the 1996 film, Scream.

In addition, David’s sister, performer and trans icon Alexis Arquette, passed away in 2016. After all, the Griffin’s “only human” comment seemed to hint at a recent loss.

Added to this, the Griffin shared, “The stage is my happy place. I love it here. I feel so lucky.” This ties well into Arquette’s long career as an actor.

Some Fans Think The Costume Itself Could Hold A Big Clue

With videos of the Griffin’s performance being uploaded to YouTube, fans have already been making their own guesses. One popular guess appears to be actor James van Der Beek.

As fans mentioned, the actor had appeared in Scary Movie, which could be alluded to in the Halloween tape. The comment about the fan also brought to mind similar stories van Der Beek has shared over the years.

Added to this, some even suggested playing a “griffin” could double as a pun on the actor’s last name. As previously reported, back in November 2024, the actor also revealed he was dealing with a cancer diagnosis. This could also tie into the “only human” comments. However, only time will tell who the Griffin really is on The Masked Singer.
