Ryan Sutter Shares How 5 Seconds Shattered His Dream Forever
Bachelorette alum Ryan Sutter is known for sharing his innermost thoughts and feelings with fans. He’s sentimental and shows tons of gratitude for the life he has. He often praises his wife Trista and dotes on how much he loves her. Today, he’s talking about his personal achievements and why he is the way he is. Ryan Sutter Reveals How It Only Took 5 Seconds To Ruin His Dreams
Bachelorette star Ryan Sutter went to Instagram to share a touching story with his followers. His new post reveals a side of him that many may not have known about. He got candid about why he is the way he is. Along with his post, he shared a photo of himself working out with his dog nearby.
Ryan began by sharing that all he ever wanted when he was younger was to play professional football. He knew the odds were not great but he loved the sport. He played from peewee through college and even made it to the NFL.
Ryan said,
“Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens but ending up on the Carolina Panthers practice squad my goal was finally achieved on November 29th, 1998 when I was activated to play against the New York Jets. I lined up for the opening kick off. The whistle blew. I ran down the field. By the time the next whistle blew, my career was over. 5 seconds had run off the clock. In an attempt to make the tackle, I blew up my shoulder. I never made it back. In 5 seconds my dream was both realized and shattered.”
He continued sharing his story noting that 20 years of hard work was recognized and ended on the same day. Everything continued. Life didn’t stop and he knew he had to go on but football had been all he’d known for so long.

How He’s Lived His Life Since Then
Ryan Sutter continued his story by saying that in the 26 years since that day, he has continued to try to live up to what should have been.
He became a firefighter, an Ironman, a Leadman and a Ninja Warrior. He also met Oprah and knows without a doubt that his life is blessed. Ryan has a gorgeous wife and two amazing children.
He said,
“I continue to work with talented, ambitious and inspiring people. Yet I still feel as though I’ve failed my potential – that I could have been more. That single failure has made every subsequent one more impactful.”
Ryan went on to say that he stays up at night replaying difficult calls at work and he thinks about what he could have done differently. He works out a lot to ensure he is body can still handle the strain he puts on it. It’s the only way of life he knows.

What Ryan Has Learned From It All
Bachelorette star Ryan Sutter has learned a lot from his past. While his football dreams were shattered and it’s disappointing, he knows it led him to where he is today. He said,
“My broken dream lead to me accomplishing things I never dreamt of. I am the person I am not in spite of my failures but because of them.”
Ryan said he will never play football again but the drive and motivation he had then continue to push him today. He will always strive for ways to get better. He may fall but he will always get back up.
Ryan continues to inspire those around him with his truthfully spoken words and efforts.
