Isabella Strahan Reveals Biggest Regret Dealing With Brain Cancer
Isabella Strahan’s health journey following her brain cancer diagnosis has made headlines over the past few months. Recently, Isabella has opened up about one thing she regrets as she continues to share her story. In addition, she also shared something she hoped other people would take away from following her journey.
Isabella Recently Talked About Her Journey During A Podcast Appearance
Isabella Strahan is the daughter of former professional football player and TV personality Michael Strahan. Back in October 2023, Isabella was diagnosed with brain cancer. Following this, she would undergo surgery to remove a medulloblastoma in her cerebellum.
Recently, Isabella appeared on the “Beyond the Battlefront” podcast and spoke with host Noor Hassan. notably, Hassan is also a cancer survivor and a high school junior.
During the conversation, Isabella described the toll the whole ordeal had on her body. As she shared, “I lost a lot of weight during my treatments, which was bound to happen because my appetite was out and I was nauseous all the time.”
However, during this time, there was something Isabella felt she should have done more. She shared, “But one thing I wish I did was move.”
Isabella admitted that it wouldn’t have been an easy task, but would have been beneficial. She noted, “I know it’s super hard at times and I did not want to move, but I wish I just made myself walk, even 100 steps a day because I lost so much of my leg muscle.”
Ultimately, moving more would have helped her during her recovery process. She continued, “It was not funny. It’s not fun to get back because I’m paying for it now trying to work out and everything. I’d tell myself, ‘Move. Move yourself. Drink a lot of water.’ All the health stuff.”
That Wasn’t The Only Thing Isabella Had Wished She’d Done Differently
Another thing Isabella wishes she had done differently was have a more positive mindset during her time in the hospital. As the publication noted, this can be surprising, as Isabella was known for keeping her spirits up during her journey.
Isabella continued, “At the beginning of my journey, I was not so positive. I only kind of thought about the worst things that could happen. And I think that’s pretty detrimental.”
isabella said she spent time “researching bad stuff” on the internet about the diagnosis. Looking back, however, she noted that her journey is different than others.
There is also one thing she hopes people learn from her own experience. As she shared, “Always have a positive mindset and not shut yourself off like, ‘This is the end. Life is never gonna get better.’ I definitely was that person and now I’m trying to see how I can not be that person.”
As noted by People, Isabella shared the news she no longer had signs of cancer back in July 2024 in a blog. As she shared on Instagram at time time, “After the wildest 8 months, I finally got to ring the bell. Grateful for my journey.”
