As Love Is Blind fans have seen in Season 8 of the popular Netflix dating show, Minneapolis singles took to the pods to hopefully find their person as part of the popular dating experiment. The Netflix show tests whether or not love is truly blind with every new season, and as with every season, there is a new batch of singles willing to test that theory.
With Netflix recently dropping a new batch of episodes, there has been even more drama for watchers to dig into. Between the love triangles, breakups, and more, there is no shortage of drama, as many viewers continue to dig into this new batch of cast members.
Dave Bettenburg Had Messy Situation With Lauren O’Brien
While singles enter the pods on Love Is Blind with generally pure intentions, not everyone is as single as they claim to be when they make it onto the show. In Lauren O’Brien’s case, she had a lingering entanglement when she got on the show.
Lauren had been in a casual relationship with someone before filming the show. While the modern dating scene and hookup culture often encourages things like dating multiple people at once and being intimate with multiple people before eventually agreeing to be exclusive with someone, Lauren’s dating timeline was a little too close for Dave to stomach.
Dave Bettenburg did not like the fact that Lauren was seeing someone so soon before coming on the show, and a lot of Love Is Blind fans don’t blame him for feeling that way.
Love Is Blind: Dave Bettenburg Opens Up About Messy Split
Following Dave Bettenburg ending his relationship with Lauren O’Brien, he had a lot to say about it, including his thought process. Opening up to PEOPLE recently, he said: “I think the whole situation of her having a ‘boyfriend’ going into it and me having to experience and try to play — not play two different roles, but I was trying to be the best to everybody and trying to figure this out. This is coming from not only my sister, who knows this guy’s best friend but also, my really close college friends that know him [and] were all telling me that they had been dating for three months, she was staying at his place the week before she left.”
Dave continued, adding: “I am hearing all these things and I’m just like, there’s just no way I’m going to marry this person if that’s what she was doing coming into it. I just can’t justify that.”
