Kourtney Kardashian Fights To Dump Toxic Waste On Poor People?
It seems that fans are taking Kourtney Kardashian-Barker to task for apparently promoting dumping toxic waste onto poor communities. This comes after the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star took part in a march to protest the dumping of toxic waste in their community. However, this seems to indicate that she instead feels it should be redirected to poorer communities.
Here is what you need to know.
Kourtney Kardashian Marches Against Dumping Toxic Waste In Calabasas
Kourtney Kardashian was filmed marching and protesting the dumping of toxic waste in Calabasas. While this is a good thing to protest, there was one big problem. A photo shared of the protest by Kendra Wilkinson had a disturbing sign in it that the protestors with Kourtney were holding up.

The photo in question was removed from IG, but it said to dump the toxic waste in Kettleman Hills and Buttonwillow (see below pic) instead. This has many fans angry because Kettleman Hills has been used as a dumping ground for toxic waste before. This is no joking matter for the people there.
According to a Reddit post, as recently as 2010, residents of Kettleman Hills learned their drinking water was contaminated with arsenic and benzene. The area ranks among the most polluted-burdened zip codes in California. There are two operating hazardous waste landfills in the state, and one is in Kettleman Hills.

The post concludes that Kourtney Kardashian doesn’t want toxic waste in her community. However, based on the sign, she supports “environmental damage to disadvantaged communities.”
“Why is our area fit for everybody else’s trash?” asked Maricela Mares-Alatorre of Kettleman Hills (via The Center for Public Integrity). “The thing is that you’re bringing all this trash to a disadvantaged community that has way less resources to deal with the ramifications than a bigger, more economically sound place.”
Fans Blast Kourtney Kardashian For Tone Deft Protest
Kourtney Kardashian, 45, and former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson, 39, now face a massive backlash. The sign held by the woman in the white cap beside Kendra reads, “Dump the toxic waste in Kettleman Hills & Buttonwillow. Not by our homes or schools!” (via Daily Mail).

Here is what many fans had to say about the hateful comment about dumping toxic waste in disadvantaged communities:
- “Did they not realise that they could protest the dumping of waste near them without demanding they dump it near the poors instead?”
- “I was gonna say just don’t bring the sign lol. But it’s like the saying, cruelty is the point.”
- “Beyond disgusting. It’s one thing to be ignorant about where else the toxic waste would go, but to knowingly say ‘NIMBY! Take it to the poors!'”
- “Kourtney is a hardened classist (even worse than the rest of the family). This doesnt shock me in the slightest.”
