Filo Ebid’s Inspiring Journey From Egypt To ‘American Idol’
American Idol is promoting its new season, which launches on March 9 on ABC and Hulu. In one of the new promo videos about the upcoming season, Luke Bryan talks about one of the things he loves the most about the show in general. He said it is the stories behind the singers and how they got to this point in their lives.
In that specific promo, Luke’s words were followed by the story of Filo Ebid, a young man from Egypt who moved to the United States and is now following his dreams in the country by appearing on AI. Here is what you need to know about Filo before his Idol journey begins.
Luke Bryan Promotes Filo Ebid’s American Idol Story
In the promo video, after Luke Bryan talks about personal stories, Filo Ebid had a chance to show his story weeks before the American Idol premiere. The episodes leading to the live shows have been filmed, and the auditions have taken place already. One of the singers who moved to the next round was Filo.
Filopatir “Filo” Ebid is a 2023 graduate from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music. However, his journey to get there started in Egypt, where Filo was born.
In the promo, Filo, 23, said that he was originally from Egypt and moving to the United States was hard at first. However, he said that music was his “link into American society.” His mother was also with him at the audition, and he called her his “hero.”
Many fans have already seen Filo since he appeared on ABC’s New Year’s Eve celebration live from Times Square, where he joined American Idol host Ryan Seacrest and judge Carrie Underwood. This is where Seacrest and Underwood gave Filo his Platinum Ticket, meaning he can skip the first rounds of Hollywood Week and go to the next round automatically.
“For anyone who wants to pursue a career in music, it is important to remember that there are so many ways to get to your dream if you keep an open mind,” Filo said about his American Idol journey (via Pacific University). “You never know which door will open for you, so knock on as many of them as you can.”
Can Filo Ebid Win American Idol?
Of course, the question is whether Filo Ebid can win over the fans with his voice, as well as his story. From the sound of it, fans are onboard early on, just weeks away from the premiere actually airing. Many fans are already cheering for the young man (and his mom) to find American Idol success.
