When Katy Perry shared she was leaving American Idol, a bunch of names were thrown around as replacements. Since Jelly Roll had been a mentor for Season 22’s contestants and viewers liked him a lot, it made sense that he would be considered. Other names like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor, and P!nk were floated around. In the end, Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood took the title which may now have been a mistake. After performing at the inauguration of the current president, some viewers have claimed they are boycotting the season:

  • No to Carrie Underwood. First season I won’t be watching.
  • As a 20 year fan, my family and I will not be watching this year with Carrie as a judge after her decision to perform at the inauguration.
  • I won’t be watching this season due to Carrie Underwood’s decisions.
  • Nope! Was a faithful fan but not anymore. Dump Carrie.
