Hallmark Sleuthers Want Alison Sweeney To Make More ‘Chronicle Mysteries’
Hallmark Mystery’s Chronicle Mysteries first came out in 2019. This mystery series starred Alison Sweeney and Benjamin Ayres. Created by True Crime podcast buff Sweeney, this series is about Alex McPherson, a True Crime podcaster, and Drew Godfrey, the editor-in-chief of The Chronicle, the paper that Alex’s uncle owns.
The last movie, Helped To Death, came out in 2021. However, there have not been any new mysteries in this series released. But, it is not canceled. Last year, Ali had stated on the Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast that she had an idea for another Chronicle Mystery, but the network thought it would be confusing with her Hannah Swensen series.
However, fans have recently been asking for more of the other series. What have they said?

The popular Hallmark Mystery series Murder She Baked has transformed in the past decade. Now called Hannah Swensen, Cameron Mathison left the series. He played Mike Kingston, Hannah’s detective boyfriend. Now, Victor Webster is in as Chad Norton, the local prosecutor. However, there is a group of fans who want Ali to star in her other Hallmark Mystery series.
In a Reddit post, one fan wrote, “I really want more Chronical Mysteries! Its an excellent premise, great cast (no over the top obnoxious characters), good chemistry with the leads, etc. I USED to love the Hannah series but the writing has just gotten so bad! I couldn’t even make it through the newest movie Its dull. All the actors look tired. Zero chemistry with the new guy-to the point I’m rooting for her Ex! And Hannahs mom. She is UNBEARABLE: Completely unwatchable at this point. I find myself cringing with second hand embarrassment and discomfort every time she’s on the screen. I couldn’t even make it to the murder before she drove me to want to turn the movie off entirely. This one will unfortunately remain on my “continue watching” list because I don’t see myself ever finishing it.”
Last year, there was a big change in Hannah Swensen Mysteries. Cameron Mathison left Hallmark for GAF. Therefore, they had his character go to Quantico and brought in Victor Webster as Chad. There is no doubt that there are Hannah and Mike fans out there. But, this writer had other complaints as well. Did anyone else share their wish for Chronicles Mysteries.

- The Chronicle Mysteries immediately become one of my favorite. It’s not as cozy as many of the other series but something about it just made it a great watch. It might have been the pacing. I enjoy the current Hannah Swenson mysteries but as a sleepy comfort watch just to see the character as they go through the mystery.
- I like that the Chronical Mysteries lets the drama be in the mystery and NOT between the core characters. I’m sick to death of the pattern Hallmark has of the leads being at odds all the time. It’s SO TIRED. CM has the core cast all get along great and it makes you love them and root for them.
- I really like it when the leads are partners so they can chat and have banter, rather than a solo lead. But it is annoying when they don’t like each other and fight.
- I wish they would just let the Hannah series die and let her do the Chronical Mysteries. Its SO much better!
