Gayle King, the host of CBS Mornings, recently took some time away from her busy schedule to enjoy a couple of memorable musical events. Known for her work as a respected journalist, King shared a glimpse into her fun-filled girls’ night out, which included a concert by the talented country singer Kelsea Ballerini. Not only did Gayle and her guests get to see Kelsea perform live, but they also had the special opportunity to meet her backstage, making the evening even more memorable.

The concert took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, where Gayle attended with her nephew Cameron, stage manager Patty, and her daughter Mary, who was celebrating her 25th birthday. Gayle expressed how excited she was to attend the show, saying she “had to go” to see Kelsea perform. She praised the singer for being “so lovely” and for inviting them to meet her backstage in her personal dressing room. Gayle shared that Kelsea had somehow found out about Mary’s birthday and made the effort to make it even more special by offering the backstage experience

In a video shared on her Instagram, Gayle described Kelsea’s kindness and how great it was to meet the star before her performance. When Gayle asked Kelsea how she was able to interact with people backstage before going on stage, Kelsea casually responded, “Because I know what I’m doing.” Gayle also mentioned that Kelsea’s latest tour promotes her new album Patterns, which is all about taking inventory of oneself and life. Additionally, $1 from each ticket sold for Kelsea’s concerts goes to her Feel Your Way Through charitable fund, a cause that Gayle highlighted during her visit.

In addition to her night with Kelsea Ballerini, Gayle had another exciting musical outing. Over the weekend, she attended the Saturday Night Live (SNL) 50th anniversary kickoff concert, which featured a star-studded lineup of performers. Gayle brought along her “favorite niece” to enjoy the show, which included unforgettable performances from artists like the Backstreet Boys, Cher, Bad Bunny, Lauryn Hill, and Bonnie Raitt. One of the highlights of the event was a special performance by Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, with Post Malone stepping in as the lead singer, paying tribute to Kurt Cobain.

Gayle shared her excitement about the event on Instagram, posting photos and videos from the concert. She particularly loved Cher’s performance, saying, “@cher my oh my my!” and praised the event for bringing together such a wide range of iconic musical moments. She also congratulated SNL creator Lorne Michaels and the team for giving audiences 50 years of unforgettable music and memories.
