‘The Masked Singer’: Who Is Coral?
The Masked Singer is back in action for Season 13. With one week already under its belt, fans have seen a peek at who is performing. But who is Coral?
The Masked Singer Panel Meets Coral
During The Masked Singer’s debut on February 12, a fabulous sea creature emerged. The prickly Coral gave judges chills as she sang “Mad World” by Tears for Fears. Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, and Rita Ora were in awe of her beauty and crisp sound. Some of their initial guesses were Carly Rae Jepsen, Bebe Rexha, Sabrina Carpenter, and Halsey. However, there are other clues to dissect to see who the underwater star truly is.
The Masked Singer: Who Is Coral?
After looking at The Masked Singer clues, there is a big nod to Coral being a Disney Channel star. In fact, some diehard Disney fans are certain it is Meg Donnelly. Furthermore, many signs are pointing to this being the case.
For instance, the star’s first clue was a model house featuring an American flag. Many people think that was not a coincidence, but instead, a direct nudge that it is about Meg’s role in ABC’s American Housewife. This clue showed her hammering on the roof, which is why Jeong guessed “Sabrina Carpenter” because it looked like a carpenter’s trade.
However, Zombies fans think Clue #2 about “Live” had to be pointing at Meg in the American Housewife sitcom being filmed in front of a live audience. Another idea was that the “Live” might be about Meg being the understudy for a role with Carrie Underwood in 2013 NBC’s The Sound of Music Live. That would also be an answer to the big “career break.” Additionally, the broken heart seems to hint at her role in the 2017 TV movie The Broken Ones.
The Audio Clues Give More Hints
During the first episode of The Masked Singer, Coral said, “The Coral costume is so majestic, but she’s also got these hard, tough edges — the kind that are strong and resilient. That’s why I relate to her. Ever since I was young, I dreamed of being a star. I’d ask everyone, ‘Please, please, please let me sing for you!’” The triple “Please” is another reason that Ken Jeong believes it is “Sabrina Carpenter.”

However, she went on, “But, for eight years, it was rejection after rejection. I was this little girl struggling through the madness of the industry.” This makes some fans wonder again if it is Meg Donnelly. In earlier years, Meg tried to make it as a singer. In American Housewife, her character attempts an audition for American Idol in 2019, and the voice sounds remarkably similar to Coral’s.
The Masked Singer star continues, “Just as I was about to give it all up, a small victory turned into my voice being heard across the globe. Now, that unpredictable madness has led me here. As Coral, I’m casting my net towards a new goal: securing that trophy.”
Meg Donnelly has also landed the voice of Supergirl in the animated films Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths (Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.)
