‘American Idol’ Ryan Seacrest Will Fight To Keep Carrie Underwood

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has known Carrie Underwood since she competed on the show in 2005. He expresses that he will fight to keep the new judge, Carrie Underwood, in her position.
Carrie Underwood Is Coming Back
While American Idol Season 23 promises to be full of twists, the judges’ panel has gained a new member, Carrie Underwood. But she is no stranger to the show. She started her journey with American Idol as a contestant, winning Season 4 in 2005. But she is stepping into a new role on March 9, 2025, when the season premieres. Recently, producers were blindsided by Carrie opting to perform for President Donald Trump’s inauguration, which added pressure ahead of the release. However, an inside source has revealed ahead of the debut that Ryan Seacrest is fighting to keep Carrie on board.

Ryan Seacrest Will Fight To Keep Carrie Underwood
According to Life & Style, a source revealed that Ryan Seacrest has many plans for Carrie Underwood and is preemptively dodging pitfalls. Undoubtedly, he wants her experience on the show to be great. So much so that Ryan is fighting to ensure the show doesn’t go through the same issues they faced with Katy Perry. Additionally, Ryan is encouraging the other judges, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan, to make the environment welcoming. However, the insider explains, “Ryan has really taken her under his wing, and he’s instructed the other judges to do the same.” Furthermore, he needs them to fall in line to make sure they can hold on to Carrie for future endeavors. The source said, “He wants them to really make her feel welcome, not just because he considers her a close friend but also because he would love for her to do more than one season.”

Carrie Underwood Is The Success American Idol Wants To Be Promoting
However, in addition to Ryan Seacrest wanting to keep Carrie Underwood engaged, he knows she is a huge success story that started on American Idol. The insider also added, “He thinks it’s a huge coup to have one of the show’s biggest success stories front and center at the judges’ table and believes she’ll serve as an inspiration for all the contestants.” Undeniably, Carrie is the whole package. She is kind, bright, “bubbly,” and has a remarkable talent.

Ryan doesn’t want to tarnish that reputation with the current agreement. Furthermore, he is a bit gun-shy after seeing Katy Perry fall by the wayside. Reportedly, the inside source said, Ryan is “determined to avoid anything like the Katy situation happening again.”

Ryan Seacrest Is Running Interference
Seemingly, the insider says Ryan Seacrest is working overtime to run interference for Carrie Underwood while she is on American Idol. They add, “So, he wants to do everything he can to make sure Carrie avoids any pitfalls and stays golden in the fans’ eyes.” Likewise, he is urging the other judges to be “supportive,” “work as a team,” and avoid future “rivalry or cattiness.” At times, viewers were put off by Katy’s harsh critiques of the contestants.
Unfortunately, Katy’s interactions are said to have led to the work environment becoming “vicious.” And fans started to believe she was too polarized with her judgments. Previously, an insider told The Sun that Carrie Underwood is a “godsend” who saved them from Katy’s dark cloud. They said, “I hate to sound so cheesy, but actually, it’s like she is a ray of sunshine after a chaotic and stormy few years with some of the on-camera talent.” Knowing how dog-eat-dog the world can be, Ryan wants to protect and proactively fight to keep Carrie on board for the long haul.
American Idol fans can catch Season 23 premiering on Sunday, March 9, on ABC, with both Carrie Underwood and Jelly Roll joining the team. Then, it will be available for streaming the next day on Hulu. However, fans get a sneak peek of Ryan Seacrest kicking off the magic following the Oscars on Sunday, March 2.
