Tensions can run high on any game show and Family Feud is no exception. After all, sometimes all it takes is a ruling to determine if the game is won or not. Recently, a contestant criticized a ruling from host Steve Harvey, deeming it unfair. Notably, this also happened during a star-studded event.

An Actor & A Singer, With Their Families, Competed On Celebrity Family Feud

For years, Harvey made a name for himself as a comedian and actor, even starring in his own namesake sitcom. However, in recent years, Harvey has been known for bringing his comedic chops to Family Feud.

The game show, which sees two families compete to name popular answers, has been around in some form since 1976. Notably, Harvey became the host of the series back in 2010. Harvey has also hosted some of the show’s spin-offs, like Celebrity Family Feud.

During his time on the show, Harvey is especially known for roasting contestants. However, as noted by Market Realist, there are a few times when contestants think he’s gone too far.

During an episode of Celebrity Family Feud, Anthony Anderson of Black-ish and Law & Order fame competed with his family. He was competing against singer Robin Thicke and his family.

At one point, the families were given the survey question, “Name an animal a man sounds like when they’re making love?” Thicke was the first to buzz in and guessed “cow.” This earned his family 10 points.

Anderson took over, responding with “bear,” which also earned 10 points. Because “bear” goes above “cow” alphabetically and was arranged as such, he assumed he earned more points. He even proclaimed, “We’re gonna play, Steve!”

The Fast Money Round Also Proved To Be A Close One

However, Harvey assured him, “It’s a tie.” It was Thicke’s team who would get to decide whether they would play or not, since they were the first to answer.

Anderson’s family was confused by this. Notably, the actor’s mother Doris Hancox even exclaimed, “They’re cheating already!” Anthony calmed her down, assuring her, “It’s okay.”

However, Anderson’s family had the last laugh, at least until the Fast Money round. They ended up initially winning the game with $10,000 in prize money.

During the Fast Money round, they had a chance to double their wins for charity. Anthony and Doris were selected to play.

Doris went first, earning 57 points. Anthony was able to score 135 points with his guesses. Unfortunately, this was eight points short of what was needed, so they weren’t able to double the prize money.
