Over its run, Swamp People has had several people become big reality TV stars thanks to their personalities. One of the biggest stars on the show was the Edgar family. Patriarch Daniel Edgar leads the Edgar family. Other family members include Dorian Edgar, Joey Edgar, and Dwaine Edgar. Also considered a member is Zak Catchem.

Here is how Zak is related to the Edgar family.

How Is Zak Catchem Related To The Edgars On Swamp People

Zak Catchem on Swamp People has always been connected to the Edgar family. They even considered him a part of their family on the HISTORY Channel reality series. However, Zak was not actually related to the Edgar family at all.

Joey Edgar - Zak - The Swamp People

According to The HISTORY Channel website, Zak worked with Joey Edgar for several seasons. As a result of his time spent with the family, they considered him a “surrogate member of the Edgar family.” It goes on to read that “Zak’s a sharp shooter with an impressive fishing resume, particularly when it comes to deep sea fish. His biggest challenge in the swamp is quite possibly keeping up with Joey’s demanding style.”

Zak was most recently part of the Season 14 cast with the Edgar family. He was also part of the spinoff series Swamp People Serpent Invasion, which aired in 2020. In that series, he worked with Troy Landry, Chase Landy, Bruce Mitchell, and Bill Booth. Instead of gator hunting, they were hunting Burmese pythons from the Everglades.

Swamp People Is In Its 16th Season

Daniel Edgar, as well as Dorien and Joey, are still involved in Swamp People in its 16th season. The family joined the show in Season 7 and have become very popular cast members ever since.

The Edgar family has also started to branch out a little bit as Joey has agreed to train his daughter Kallie to join the team as a gator hunter. This season has shown Kallie with her dad and brothers as they set out to hunt gators and get her feet wet in the family business.

This season has also seen a lot of stressful moments for not only the Edgar family, but the entire cast. Earlier this season, they had to deal with Hurricane Francine. Not only was this a deadly storm, but the water it brought made tracking and catching the gators more difficult and dangerous than ever. This also leads the alligators on a feeding frenzy, making things extremely dangerous.

Now, with the upcoming episode, “Bayou Broiler,” the hunters have to deal with extreme heat in the swamps, which brings its own problems.
