CBS And Sony In Heated Legal Battle Over Popular Shows

With both shows being such hot commodities, it’s no surprise that networks are willing to go to court over things like who gets distribution rights and more.

Sony accused CBS of a breach of contract in October of 2024, claiming that CBS has been “egregiously undercutting the value and profitability of these shows in favor of its own self-interest.” Because of this, as Sony sees it, they have the right to distribute these shows, not CBS.

In response, CBS put together a countersuit against Sony, asking the courts to keep the original contract terms intact. There is a lot at stake amid this ongoing legal battle between two industry heavy-hitters, and there was recently a major ruling in the case.
