During a recent episode of Jeopardy!, a contestant missed a clue about Céline Dion. This was all the more notable as they had talked about being a fan of the singer beforehand. The contestant also had a notable reaction to their game show faux paus.

Jeopardy! Had A Clue About A 1994 Céline Dion Hit Single

Céline Dion is is a Canadian singer known for her power ballads. Primarily releasing songs in French and English, Dion got her start as a teen star. In 1998, Dion won the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Switzerland. She also notably sang “My Heart Will Go On”, the theme for the 1997 epic film Titanic.

More recently, the star became the subject of a clue on Jeopardy! during the 2025 Champions Wildcard tournament. This led to a notable scene involving contestant Drew Goins, a Hawaii-based journalist who has become something of a fan-favorite for the series.

Early on, the contestants were asked if there was anyone they’d like to thank. Goins talked about thanking other contestants during the Second Chance tournament.

This time, at the suggestion of one of the crew-members, Goins thanked Dion. Host Ken Jennings jokingly asked if the singer knew what she was being thanked for. Goins assured that she did. As he teased, “Oh, she does. Deep down.”

Dion herself later came up in a category revolving around “’90s Number One Hits.” A clue read, “Sharing its title with an earlier, more upbeat Huey Lewis hit, it was No. 1 for Céline Dion in 1994.”

A Clip Of The Scene Was Shared On The Jeopardy! Instagram Page

The intended response was “What is ‘The Power of Love?'” However, Goins ended up drawing a blank when trying to solve the clue. This caused Jennings to tease, “Oh, she’s going to be mad, Drew.”

Goins then tried to get up and walk away from his podium. However, his departure was short-lived, as he came back and even hugged one of the other contestants. Goins later tried to give the excuse that he was born in 1994 and would have been too young to recognize the song.

Many fans also made jokes over the scene in the comments. Many were laughing with Goins, not at him, saying it was proof he really made the night’s show. Some comments included:

  • “This was the funniest Jeopardy moment. Drew is/was an awesome contestant – so smart and so entertaining.”
  • “This was a fun moment, Drew is such a personality.”
  • “If I had a nickel for every time @drewlgoins contestant interview directly related to a clue later in the game, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice”
