‘Gold Rush’ Rick Ness Hits Another Roadblock After Hitting High

Things have been up and down for Rick Ness this season on Gold Rush. He has been struggling to hit his goals and looks unlikely to make what he needs. He also has struggled thanks to a license he has been unable to renew, which could cost him his claim. Now, one week after hitting the highest of highs, a broken machine knocked him down again.

Here is a look at Rick’s current struggles on Gold Rush.

Rick Ness Has Another Broken Machine On Gold Rush

Rick Ness had a huge high last week on Gold Rush. He earned enough gold to pay off his claim, allowing him to finally own a claim for the first time. However, as it has shown throughout the season, Rick is struggling to keep his equipment running, and that is why he is struggling to meet his totals.

That happened again this week. At Duncan Creek, Rick was happy to be a new landowner. He also saw some big success at Rally Valley. He set out to the Crew Cut, but it hasn’t really delivered much. Despite this, Buzz Legault believes they will find gold there and he got one week to prove to Rick it was worth sticking around for.

Sadly, things did not go well, thanks to more machine failures. Kyle Lawson ran into issues with his loader’s parking brake. Because of this, it looked like Rocky would end up shut down. Ryan Kent found out what was wrong, but they had no replacement part. They rigged up something to last in the meantime, but then the spare loader’s tilt linkage snapped in half.

As with all of Rick’s season, it was one step forward and two steps back. By the time he got things running, they only brought in 9.28 ounces ($23,000), way below the goals.

The Beets Boys Have Big Moments

Away from Rick Ness, there were two other big stories this week on Gold Rush. Kevin Beets was still plugging away on his claim. Meanwhile, his dad, Tony Nees, saw his “favorite son,” Mike, have success at his claim.

Kevin Beets had a big week at Scribner Creek. After constant struggles with breakdowns and delays, he finally got moving and had a huge take. He was able to get moving using a new propane-powered generator, and now he is working toward his 1,000-ounce goal for the season. He even saw his parents, who visited on his birthday.

As for Tony Beets, his son Mike was working hard at the Indian River, and when all was said and done, they had a monster pull this week. After five days of running just one plant, they pulled 325,14 ounces ($800,000).
