‘Today’s’ Al Roker Reveals New Career Opportunity
Al Roker has been one of the nation’s favorite weathermen for years. However, on a recent episode of The Today Show, Al let fans know that he was switching up and doing something new in his career. While this is often something that scares fans, this time, most of the viewers were completely on his side and were excited about the change.
Here is what Al is doing and why his fans are so excited.
What Is Al Roker Doing Next In His Career?
This past week on The Today Show, Al Roker said he had something new outside his career on the morning talk show. Al said he had a new animated television show coming from his production company, Al Roker Entertainment. The show is called Weather Hunters, and he will be directly involved.
Weather Hunters will be a kid’s animated series with Roker teaming up with Sheryl Lee Ralph and LeVar Burton. “The kids in your life will love it—and maybe even learn a thing or two about a topic near and dear to me: WEATHER!” Al said about the new upcoming series.
The Instagram post introducing the series to fans said that it will air on PBS Kids this summer. The show will premiere on July 7, 2025, and will be available in English and Spanish. It is targeted for younger kids, and is “designed to support kids’ learning about Earth science and meteorology through adventure and comedy.”
Additionally, the goal is to “cultivate their awareness, curiosity, and caring about how weather and climate impact individuals, communities, and our global society.” An 8-year-old girl named Lily Hunter works as a “weather detective” and shares her discoveries with her family and friends.
Tandi Fomukong voices Lily. Also, Roker voices her father, Al. Holly Robinson Peete voices mom Dot, Kapri Ladd voices sister Corky, Lorenzo Ross voices brother Benny, Ralph voices neighbor Ms. Joyce, and Burton voices grandfather Wallace.
