Mark Consuelos Talks Fans Who Don’t Know He’s Married To Kelly Ripa
Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa not only share co-hosting duties on their namesake talk show, but also their lives together as husband and wife. However, there are always fans who are surprised to learn the two are married in real life. Consuelos recently talked about these fans and tried to get into their heads.
Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Often Casually Discuss Their Lives Together On The Show
Ripa and Consuelos first met in 1995 while working on All My Children together. Notably, the two played each other’s love-interests on the soap. In real life, the two eloped in 1996.
In 2002, Ripa left the soap to focus on her talk show, Live! with Regis and Kelly. Over the years, Ripa would go through a variety of co-hosts.
After occasionally serving as a guest co-host, Consuelos would become a permanent fixture on the show in 2023. This would give the series its current name, renamed Live! with Kelly and Mark.
Since then, the two often discuss their personal lives together. As noted by Decider, a recent episode had the pair discuss their dental habits, claiming neither of them have dealt with bad breath.
Turning to his wife, Consuelos admitted, “First of all, watching you brush your teeth, you brush your teeth for 17 minutes. It’s a long time.” As Ripa confirmed this was part of her process, Consuelos teasingly accused her of “stalling” for time.
Consuelos continued, “Sometimes I think you’re hoping I’ll fall asleep, so that we can’t, you know, have further conversations. Cause sometimes I really need to talk to you. I really want to talk to you.”
Kelly Ripa Also Shared Her Two Cents Over Casual Viewers
For her part, Ripa admitted she has a habit of keeping her pace. She shared, “You know when you’re waiting for the parking spot, and you’re like, OK, you got in, you put your keys in the ignition. Back up, so I can get in.”
“And you know that person is slowing down because you know that… they’re waiting? So, if I feel a sense of urgency, that’s actually quite frightening to me, so I will slow things down.”
Going back to their original conversation, Consuelos suggested he and his spouse actually have terrible breath, but are just used to it. He then used this to make an interesting segue.
Consuelos admitted some viewers might be confused by their conversation if they weren’t too familiar with the couple As he put it, “If you’re just tuning in, and you don’t know at home that we’re married and we live with each other… Because if you’re like a casual viewer.”
This caused Ripa to tease, “We’re not and we don’t. We’re just having an affair. I said it.” Her husband then chimed in, “Can you imagine if somebody has never seen the show, and they’re like, ‘Wait, that guy’s talking about doing what?’”
For her part, Ripa admitted this is something she’s considered before. She joked, “I work under the assumption that most people have never seen the show and they’re like, ‘Those two are so strange. How have they not lost their jobs?’”
