‘DWTS’ Runner-Up Admits They’re Still Angry Over Loss
Not everyone can win in a contest. As for the long-running ballroom competition Dancing With The Stars, only one contestant walks away with the Mirrorball Trophy.
Over the course of 33 seasons, there have been many runner-ups that viewers felt deserved the trophy more than the winning participants. Most notably, Bobby Bones’ win over Milo Manheim in Season 27.
But in a new interview, one runner-up admitted they still felt a little angry over their own loss. See what they had to say.
Many DWTS Fans Wanted Zendaya To Win Season 16 Over Kellie Pickler
Today, 28-year-old Zendaya Coleman is a world-renowned star of stage and screen. But back in 2013, she was really only known by Disney Channel watchers. The then 16-year-old joined the cast of Dancing With The Stars and easily made it to the finale. However, it wasn’t always a fun experience behind the scenes.
While speaking with W Magazine, the interviewer admitted they loved watching Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy compete together on DWTS Season 16. They had many memorable performances, making Zendaya a household name.
While country singer Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough ultimately took home the Mirrorball Trophy that year, the interviewer felt Zendaya deserved to win instead of finishing in second place.
And it seems like the Euphoria actress agrees.
“Listen, I’m still harboring a little animosity about that,” she shared. “I felt that loss. I was only 16 years old, and it was highly stressful. Being on live television every week? It’s so scary.”

“I wish I’d enjoyed it a little bit more and just was like, ‘Eh, whatever.’ You know what I mean? But I was stressing myself out. I really went through it on that,” the Dune actress continued.
Zendaya Doesn’t Watch The Series To This Day
Although Zendaya enjoyed learning from Val Chmerkovskiy, she admitted the process was so stressful for her that she never watched the series again.
“I have not watched Dancing With The Stars since I was on,” Zendaya told EW back in October. “I didn’t really watch Dancing With The Stars before I was on Dancing With the Stars. I don’t think I was the target demographic. My grandma loves Dancing With The Stars, that’s her bag. But yeah, I also think it was a very stressful experience. I was like, I don’t think I’m gonna be watching this anymore.”
