Sharna Burgess Responds To Julianne Hough’s Diss Over Win
Sharna Burgess competed on Dancing With The Stars for 14 seasons. She even brought the Mirrorball Trophy home back in Season 27, along with Bobby Bones.
Along with Cheryl Burke, many DWTS fans believe she now has bad blood with producers and that’s why she parted ways with the show. After last competing in Season 30, Sharna and her partner Brian Austin Green both publicly said negative things about the production. Neither Sharna nor Cheryl was invited back for the Len Goodman Tribute, which both women took as a personal slight.
To make matters worse, this summer Julianne Hough stated she didn’t think Bobby Bones deserved the Mirrorball Trophy. See how Sharna responded in a recent interview.
Sharna Burgess Won’t Rule Out A DWTS Return
In August, current DWTS hostess Julianne Hough appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. She and another guest were asked if they ever strongly disagreed with a previous DWTS victor. The other guest promptly replied, “Bobby Bones.”
“I actually agree with you. And I think it’s because of the fan base. It’s all about [the] fan base on that show. He was not the best dancer,” Julianne responded.
Although it was a harsh comment, Sharna Burgess recently revealed she might still return to DWTS if invited.
“If they did ask me, I think I would love to have one more season there with everyone as a way to button it up,” Sharna revealed on the Between Us Moms podcast. “Who knows where that would go if that opportunity came up. After 14 years on the show it doesn’t feel like it was a beautiful way for it to end after so much love and so much memory.”
However, she admitted she hates it when people speak negatively of Bobby Bones and that they didn’t deserve their Mirrorball Trophy win.
The Australian Dancer Thinks Julianne’s Comment ‘Just Sucks’
“It also sucks that of all the incredible seasons that I had, I’m remembered as the win that no one wanted it,” the former DWTS pro continued. “And we say no one, right? People voted. The way we won was because enough people voted. So enough people wanted it.”
“But even Julianne was recently in an interview saying the win that never should have happened out of all 33 seasons was Bobby Bones,” Sharna continued. “And I was like, ‘It just sucks.’”
Sharna didn’t care for Julianne’s comment but insisted she’s still on great terms with everyone on DWTS.
“There is no love lost, I do love the show. It’s not anyone there’s fault. It’s just how things turned out and the way things got received. I’m still good friends with everyone and still love watching them and cheering them on.”

At no point in DWTS is the term “best” dancer used. You are encouraged to vote for your “favorite” dancer. So, Julianne’s comment about Bobby Bones not being the best dancer is irrelevant. It is and always has been a popularity contest and has nothing to do with their ability to dance.
