Mariah Carey Slammed For Netflix Christmas Gameday Show
Mariah Carey recently helped her fans usher in the holiday season. However, the star also drew criticism from viewers during a recent NFL appearance for Christmas, with fans sharing their concern over recent performance. Notably, this isn’t the first time fans were concerned about a holiday-themed performance from the star.
Mariah Carey Was To Help Usher In The First NFL Christmas Gameday Special
Carey was set to give a performance ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers. The game was to be streamed on Netflix as part of the first-ever NFL Christmas Gameday special.
This makes sense, as Carey has become synonymous with the Christmas season thanks to her holiday hit, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” In fact, the star had recently finished up her Christmas tour, which saw her perform throughout the United States.
The star appeared in a pre-taped segment, where she wore a red and gold outfit against a wintery backdrop. Carey performed “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” cut between inserts of NFL victories. The sequence also featured fans in Santa hats and even a cameo from Kevin Hart.
Some Fans Were Expecting The Performance To Go A Little Differently
Netflix also promoted the appearance with a post on Instagram. As the caption read, “It’s not Christmas without Mariah Carey! Join her for NFL Christmas Gameday live on Netflix.”
However, the clip received mixed reactions from fans. One of the issues was that fans were expected the performance to be live, with Carey performing ahead of Beyonce’s halftime performance.

As noted by The U.S. Sun, one fan wrote, “We wanted it live.” Another reportedly dubbed the performance “a pre-tape where she can’t even keep her eyes open.” Some fans even accused Carey of needing to lip-synch the performance.
However, other fans were more appreciative of Carey’s performance. As one fan wrote, “Mariah’s voice, football, Christmas – perfect combo.”
As the publication noted, this wasn’t the only time when fans were concerned about a holiday performance from Carey. Back in 2022, it was noted that the star looked “terrified” during the Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. At the time, the star, dressed in a red gown and a tiara, once again performed, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Notably, as previously reported, the star has also had to cancel a few of her appearances during her recent Christmas Time concert tour. At the time, she cited illness. Despite this, Carey was able to perform her final show in Brooklyn, New York.
