‘Baby Driver’ Hudson Meek Dead At 16 In Tragic Accident
News has recently come out that teenage actor Hudson Meek has died in an accident. Meek was arguably best known for his work in the action-oriented Baby Driver film. Notably, Meek was 16 at the time of his death.
Hudson Meek Appeared In Baby Driver, The Santa Con, & Episodes Of The MacGyver Reboot
Meek was born in Alabama and started acting, alongside his brother Tucker, at a young age. In 2014, he appeared in the Lifetime film, The Santa Con. He also notably appeared in episodes of the MacGyver reboot.
Meek also rose to prominence in the 2017 action film, Baby Driver. He played the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character of Miles, or “Baby.”
According to TMZ, the actor suffered blunt force trauma injuries following a fall on December 19. The incident took place in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
Meek was then taken to a hospital for treatment. However, he ultimately passed away two days later on December 21, 2024. He was 16 at the time of his death.
The actor’s mother, Lani Wells Meek, shared news of Hudson’s death on Facebook. As she wrote, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
“Specific details regarding a Celebration of Hudson’s Life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow. Please pray for our family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss.”
The Actor Will Be Honored Through The Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship
The publication also highlighted some of the actor’s other roles. This included roles in projects like Found, Legacies, and the 2015 film 90 Minutes in Heaven. It was also noted that he performed voice-over work for a variety of commercials, such as for Toys-R-Us and McDonald’s.
According to an online obituary, Meek “was surrounded by friends, family, and the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ” at the time of his death. It was also noted that he was an organ donor, adding that “his family is comforted by knowing that he will continue to help others for years to come.”
“A Celebration of Hudson’s Life” was also noted to be taking place on “December 28, 2024 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama at 11:30 am central time, and a visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 am central.” The service will have a livestream through Hudson’s Instagram account and Lani’s Facebook account.
The obituary also highlighted, “In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded annually to a Vestavia Hills High School student.”
