‘Shark Tank’ Robert Herjavec Admits Mixed Feelings About Co-Star Mark Cuban
Shark Tank sees entrepreneurs presenting their own business pitches to five venture capitalists, who will decide whether or not to invest in these ideas. However, one of these investors, Robert Herjavec, recently admitted one of his fellow “sharks,” Mark Cuban. That said, Herjavec also admitted what an impact meeting Cuban has had on his life.
Robert Herjavec Has Appeared On A Few International Versions Of Shark Tank
Herjavec is the founder of BRAK Systems, a Canadian internet security software integrator, which was sold for $30.2 million in 2000. He is also the founder of The Herjavec Group.
Herjavec has appeared in a variety of international versions of the Dragon’s Den franchise. This includes Canada’s Dragons’ Den, the American Shark Tank, and the Australian Shark Tank.
On the U.S. version of the series, Herjavec appeared alongside Mark Cuban, who is known for owning the Dallas Mavericks. While Herjavec was part of the series since its first season, Cuban officially joined with season 3, having been a guest panelist during the second season.
While speaking with The U.S. Sun, Herjavec shared what it was like first meeting Cuban. As Herjavec shared, “I think I was a little bit jealous, but then I really respected him because he’s a great guy and I admired him.” Herjavec admitted this envy helped him realize, however, he lost purpose in life.
Herjavec then explained that getting to know Cuban helped him learn to respect his co-star. As he shared, “Mark is larger than life in all things, in airplanes, and his demeaner…everything. I think it was just such a different character for me, and I didn’t know how to handle it at first.”
Mark Cuban Even Helped Herjavec Coin A New Mantra
Since he’s met Cuban, Herjavec has also developed his own YouTube series, Things I Learned from a Billionaire to Become a Billionaire. Through it, he shares lessons he’s learned from Cuban.
According to Herjavec, when starting his company, he admitted his original goal was to pay off his mortgage and, if possible, buy a Corvette. However, he knows admits that Cuban’s influence has got him to aim higher. As he noted, “I said to myself, if Mark can then why can’t I?”
During the interview, Herjavec also touched on his very own “rags to riches” story. As he shared, his family fled Croatia for Canada when he was eight years old, with his father fleeing jail. “We came from a communist country, and I didn’t realize we were poor until we came to Canada originally, and life was just really, really hard,” he noted.
“And I think what made me stand out was that I just refused to live like that anymore. So if I had to work harder, no problem.”
