While no one other than CBS executives wanted the show to end, everyone seemed resigned to the idea of Blue Bloods ending. Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, and more were adamant that the show should continue, but they had to finish up and end it anyway. However, fans are up in arms after the finale about wanting more.

Here is what happened in the finale, which has fans ready for a spinoff series.

Blue Bloods Ends With Twists Hinting At More

Blue Bloods aired its series finale on Friday night, and fans are already screaming for more. The final episode had some twists and turns that have people believing that it has set up a spinoff series, if only CBS would give it a chance.

The finale had a tragic murder, a secret wedding, and even a baby announcement. A lot happened that could lead to great stories down the line. However, CBS seems finished with the police procedural despite it remaining one of the most-watched shows on Friday nights.

The final episode had a gunman open fire on Eddie (Vanessa Ray) and her partner Luis (Ian Quinlan) as they investigated the death of a New York judge. At the same time, someone also shot Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh), and things were growing deadly for the people of New York City.

Sadly, not everyone survived. Mayor Chase and Eddie both lived. However, Luis was not as lucky, and he died in a very emotional scene. Also, while Frank had been held down a lot over the last few seasons, Mayor Chase said he had permission to do anything he needed to bring order back to the city.

The gangs threatened more police killings if prisoners were not released. However, Frank rallied his unit, and they finally brought the shooters in.

Blue Bloods Offers Some New Beginnings In The End

The case then ended with the final Reagan family dinner on Blue Bloods. However, this is where the fans saw a lot of ways that the show could continue as spinoffs. That is because the last episode finished with some new beginnings.

With very little fanfare, Erin (Bridget Moynahan) remarried her ex-husband, Jack (Peter Hermann). However, she never told her family because some bigger news arrived and took precedence. That news came when Eddie and Jamie (Will Estes) revealed they were having a baby.

There was even a gun moment at the end when Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) asked his partner Baez (Marisa Ramirez) on a pizza date. With all this, fans want more (via The U.S. Sun):

  • “So many tears shed tonight during the Blue Bloods finale! Glad it ended on a happy note! Hoping for a spin off!”
  • “Watched the very last episode of Blue Bloods… Eddie and Jamie having a kid, that be a great story. Bittersweet that it was the last episode. Spin-Off?????”
  • “Watched Blue Bloods faithfully, and we will miss it. We still watch the reruns on ION, and we hope it remains on there. That said, I am hoping that the rumors of a spin-off are true.”
