‘Today’ Reveals Why Craig Melvin Has Been Missing From Show
Craig Melvin has been missing from The Today Show this last week, and many fans have wondered what happened to him. Melvin will be Hoda Kotb’s replacement when she leaves the morning talk show in January 2025, so his absence right now seems a little strange. However, there is a good reason why he is not on the show at this time.

Craig Melvin Missing From The Today Show
Craig Melvin has been missing from The Today Show recently. However, for anyone who thinks he is just taking some time off for the holidays before he replaces Hoda Kotb as a main host in 2025, think again. Craig seems to be hard at work, even off-camera.
Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie spoke about Craig Melvin’s absence, but they didn’t give any reason for it. they just said he would be off for a couple of days (via Hello!). However, Craig popped onto Instagram and posted a photo, and he is a long way from New York’s Today studios.
Craig was in Paris for the reopening of the Notre Dame Cathedral. He then posted the message to “Tune in @todayshow.” That last comment makes it sound like The Today Show sent him to Paris to cover this major event. Many fans also wished him good travels in the comments:

Craig Melvin Gets Big Promotion On Today
Craig wasn’t finished posting photos. He then posted a video on his Instagram account that showed him reporting on the opening. He said that the reopening of the cathedral came years after the tragic fire and that it reopened its doors this past Saturday.

“Parisians and visitors are filled with excitement as the reopening marks more than just the revival of a landmark—it’s a powerful symbol of the heart of the city,” Craig said.
He then followed up with a personal video where he said he did some shopping while he was in Paris, and he showed himself at an outdoor area full of vendors. He said this was going to likely be his Christmas shopping for the season. Viewers can see his full report on Monday on The Today Show.
