Tom Selleck Announces What He Wants To Do After ‘Blue Bloods’

When CBS announced they were canceling Blue Bloods, fans worried about Tom Selleck. He was angry his show was ending while still very popular. Rumors indicated he was also worried he might lose his home without the regular acting job. However, in a recent interview, he has a new acting goal, and it could put him back in the spotlight again.

Here is what Selleck said he wants to do now that Blue Bloods is ending.

Tom Selleck Dishes On What Is Next After Blue Bloods

Tom Selleck sat down for a recent interview and discussed what was next for him in his acting career. While he is 79 now, he has no plans to slow down, and he wants to work with one of today’s hottest showrunners. Tom said he wants to star in one of Taylor Sheridan’s shows next.

Selleck said he doesn’t want to be Frank Reagan again. He said the Blue Bloods character won’t be retiring and going off to some small town to solve crimes, which means he is finished with Blue Bloods. Selleck even said he would rather make more Jesse Stone movies, a series of films he made based on Robert Parker’s books (via Parade).

He said he hasn’t started working on a new Jesse Stone movie, but he also said he wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t do another one. “It would be an interesting challenge because Jesse is older now,” Tom said. “There’ve been quite a few years between shows. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a viable character. Everywhere I go, one of the things I get asked is, ‘When can I see another Jesse Stone?’”

However, Tom Selleck has something he wants to do more than another Jesse Stone movie. Now that Blue Bloods has ended, he wants to work with Taylor Sheridan.

“A good Western’s always on my list,” Tom Selleck said. “I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again. Sam [Elliott] was great in [1883]; Sam’s always great. We go way, way back. I love him dearly. I’d love to work with Sam.”

While Yellowstone is ending this month, Taylor Sheridan has plenty of other shows he works on. In the Yellowstone world, he has 1883 (with Sam Elliott), 1923 (with Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren), and three upcoming shows (The Madison, 6666, and 1944). He also has Tulsa King, Lawman: Bass Reeves, Lioness, and Landman.
