Diddy Has Restrictions ‘Not Required Of Any Other Inmate’

Sean “Diddy” Combs was denied bail for the third time before Thanksgiving. However, his attorneys said he was permitted to have a laptop to use in jail to help his defense team. With that said, he was given several restrictions that no other inmate has to endure. The defense filed a letter to the judge.

Here is what Combs’ defensive team has said about his “untenable” restrictions.

Diddy’s Attorneys Claiming ‘Untenable’ Restrictions

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyers say that the government provided the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn with a laptop for him to use to help review discovery and take notes on his defense. However, in a letter submitted to federal judge Arun Subramanian, they say the restrictions are “untenable.”

The letter to the judge says that the jail has not given him access to the laptop. This is despite the government giving it to them nine days ago. The letter also said there are restrictions that make his use almost “untenable.” Those restrictions indicate he can only use it in the video-teleconference room in the presence of other legal staff or in the legal visiting room between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., but not both (via Us Weekly).

“These restrictions are untenable and from what we understand, not required of any other inmate on Mr. Combs’ unit,” the letter stated. “They significantly limit the time available for Mr. Combs to use the laptop and force Mr. Combs to choose between using the laptop and meeting with his attorneys.”  Combs often meets with his attorneys over video teleconference.

The lawyers say there is no “justification” for these restrictions that are mostly only in place against Diddy.

Diddy’s Attorneys Want Him Treated Like Any Other Prisoner

In the letter to federal judge Arun Subramanian, Diddy’s attorneys said that the laptop “does not contain any evidence designated as ‘attorneys’ possession only’ and therefore does not contain anything that could potentially risk the safety or privacy of alleged victims or witnesses.”

This likely is due to the accusations that Diddy was making phone calls from the jail using other inmates’ phone accounts. He reportedly called people and had three-way conversations with those not on his approved call list. The reports also allege he was blackmailing and coercing people to change their testimonies.

The attorneys also said that the laptop was necessary because the prosecutors had the feds come in and take his handwritten legal notes. This infringed on his attorney-client privilege. “Mr. Combs’ need for a laptop to take legal notes free from government surveillance is heightened,” the attorneys wrote.

  1. Diddy, please put him in population so that the inmates can help him with his laptop, and other things that he needs.

    1. no other inmate gets a laptop, but yep Diddy does! how wrong is that on every level. He is no better than the next as a matter of fact, he’s a lot worse than everyone else in there. to give him a laptop is just opening him up to threaten , harass and possibly a lot worse. why would a judge ever allow this? it baffles me!

      1. you stupid they said they get laptops but he has restrictions on his you need to read or press audio so you can hear stupid other inmates can have them and don’t have restrictions he shouldn’t either not taking up for him but right is right and wrong is wrong

      2. Diddy getting messed over while Trump was voted President!! If this doesn’t open African American’s eyes to how unequal the justice system is to Black males, nothing will!! True racism at the highest level!!

  2. He made his bed. I wouldn’t give him a laptop, phone calls, or visits. He has done horrible things to people. This shit is not made up….too many people have the same story over and over throughout the years. I grew up listening to his music and loving it. Now I have no respect for him, and I won’t even bring Tupac and Biggie into this conversation. Whole other story…….

    1. I absolutely agree 100%!!! After what Diddy has done, especially to children, the men & women he drugged, the people that died under “skeptical” circumstances; he doesn’t deserve ANY special privileges. ZERO!!
