Yellowstone is set to finish its fifth season, which is planned to be its last. The neo-Western series is expected to live on through a spin-off series, The Madison. That said, rumors of a six season have been around for quite some time. However, fans might have another reason to believe the series might not be done just yet.

Rumors Of A Sixth Season Have Been Around For A While

The Yellowstone series revolves around the Dutton family, who manage the eponymous ranch. The drama series has also had a few spin-off series over the years. In fact, there are even a few more spin-off series planned, including The Madison, which is believed to premiere sometime in 2025.

The main series, however, is expected to finish with the end of its fifth season. Aired in two halves, this season premiered in November 2022, with its final episode set to air on December 15, 2024.

That said, this hasn’t prevented rumors of a possible sixth season. In fact, fans might have uncovered a reason to believe this could be happening.

Billy Dukes and Adison Haager co-host the Dutton Rules podcast. In addition to looking at Yellowstone‘s prequel series, the podcast also takes a look at the main series’ fifth season.

One episode saw the hosts talk about the episode, “Counting Coup.” In an article for Taste of Country, while discussing it, Dukes also mentioned something that caught his interest.

A Yellowstone Actor Previously Talked About Season Six Rumors

Dukes noted something he initially missed while on some Facebook chat groups. A trailer that aired after the twelfth episode said there was only one penultimate episode before the “season finale.”

Dukes picked up on the ambiguous wording, noting it made things “curious.” While the last episode is technically a “season finale” regardless if it ends the series or not, it’s is surprising that the trailer didn’t emphasize the episode as the “series finale.”

That said, Dukes ultimately felt, “While I understand this latest Yellowstone conspiracy theory, I can’t endorse it. This show is ending and the cowboys are going to have to look for new jobs, on screen and off.”

As previously reported, rumors of a sixth season have been around for quite sometime. In fact, actor Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler, even weighed in on these rumors.

In an interview with Cigar Aficionado, Hauser shared, “I don’t make the decisions, brother — I’m a hired gun. Would I like a spinoff? Yeah. It’s been a pleasure working with this cast, with Taylor Sheridan; why would we stop a good thing? Yeah, pen it, and let’s do it.”
