Cole Hauser Dares ‘Yellowstone’ Creator To Write Season 6
Yellowstone star Cole Hauser is not ready to let go of playing his character Rip Wheeler. Moreover, he is ready for more of the Paramount series even though they just completed filming Season 5B without Kevin Costner.
Now, Hauser is challenging the show’s creator Taylor Sheridan to write Season 6. Here is what he has to say.
Cole Hauser Tells Yellowstone Creator ‘Let’s Do It’
Could someone convince Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan to continue the series? Perhaps Cole Hauser can.
In the most recent issue of Cigar Aficionado, the actor who portrays the fan-favorite character Rip Wheeler was asked about continuing the series such as in a spinoff. Hauser’s answer was crisp and to the point. “Let’s do it.”
However, he admitted, “I don’t make the decisions, brother – I’m a hired gun.” Then he continues. “Would I like a spinoff? Yeah. It’s been a pleasure working with the cat, with Taylor Sheridan; why would we stop at a good thing? Yes, pen it and let’s do it.”
Could There Be Season 6 And Not A Spinoff Of Western Drama?
Just a month ago, Yellowstone fans were given a lot of hope when it was shared that the series may not be canceled at Season 5B. Instead, there are rumors that Hauser, along with Kelly Reilly, who portrays the outspoken Beth Dutton, were negotiating for an additional season.
However, about 20 months ago, there were rumors of a spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey and some of the OG members called 2024. This rumor hung on for over a year. Some publications claimed that McConaughey wanted to see a script, but that didn’t seem to happen. This was the same sort of issue that Kevin Costner had with the creator that blew up the series.
Neither Paramount nor Taylor Sheridan revealed anything about that failed spinoff project. However, in Sheridan’s world, there is a cornucopia of stories that he can tell. Now, another spinoff, The Madison, with Michelle Pfeiffer was announced, and it is currently in production.
But, those fans who love the original Western are still holding out hope that there could be a Rip and Beth spinoff or continuation. That includes Hauser. He has a keen appreciation for this role and all the accoutrements that go along with it.
I have the greatest office in the world. I’ve been saying that for seven years. I get to go out in nature, ride a horse, chase cows, cut rope, rein at times…it’s a very special role. At the same time too, I kind of kick myself, remind myself, this is about as good as it gets.
As for playing Rip Wheeler, Cole shares that people love his character because “you don’t get to see real American men this way anymore. He’s honest, he’s loyal, as insane as he can be at times, he has a great heart. The simplicity of life, the understanding of nature, I can go on and on.”
As for Yellowstone fans, they hope that there is still some way that the series can go on and on.
