Netflix Reality TV Star Olga Bednarska Arrested For Drug Smuggling
Former Netflix reality TV star Olga Bednarska, 27, was arrested at Manchester Airport. The Too Hot to Handle star two large suitcases containing 40kg of cannabis. The value of the drugs was £150,000 (about $190,000). According to Olga, a friend named “Tex” gave them to her to carry.
She said “Tex” paid for the flights and wanted her to bring back designer clothes and watches. However, the authorities were having none of it and arrested her. She ended up pleading guilty to “being concerned in the fraudulent evasion of a prohibition on the importation of a class B drug” (via The U.S. Sun).
Olga got good news and cried when she learned she wouldn’t face a prison sentence. Instead, the judge gave her a suspended sentence. She has been in custody since her arrest in October.
Why Did Olga Bednarska Commit This Crime?
Judge John Potter believes he understands why the former Netflix star committed the crime. He said she was £16,000 of debt trying to keep the “lavish lifestyle” she started after appearing on Too Hot to Handle. He said she “lived beyond her means” and turned to crime to get out of debt.
Olga agreed to fly to Thailand on an all-expenses-paid trip. The only catch was that she had to export some designer items from the country. For this, “Tex” would pay her £18,000. She met with an “associate” of “Tex” before getting to her free hotel room.
Olga was given the money to buy the smuggled goods and the suitcases. She was supposed to pack the clothes with other items to cover them up and do nothing else. However, when the Border Force officials stopped her, she couldn’t open the suitcases since she didn’t have the codes.
When the authorities got the suitcases open, they found the vacuum-sealed bags of cannabis hidden under the clothes. The judge explained to Olga that she “decided to place your trust in someone you hardly knew. You were acting under the direction of others, potentially for further profit.”
He then explained the damage that selling wholesale value drugs has on communities. He then said she “directly contributed to this.” The judge then found her guilty and gave her a 20-month prison sentence, but it was suspended for two years, so if she doesn’t get in trouble again, it will be cleared.
