‘DWTS’ Fans Livid Over Season 33 Finale, Threaten Boycotts
The competition on Dancing With The Stars was especially fierce this year. Fans felt incredibly passionate about their favorite contestants and campaigned for them online. But as always, only one competing couple could win.
This year, The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei and his partner Jenna Johnson took home the Mirrorball Trophy. The pair had high scores from the start and consistently maintained them throughout the competition.
But even so, many DWTS viewers felt angry that another member of Bachelor Nation won the competition.
DWTS Fans Are Tired Of Bachelor Nation Contestants Winning
Over the course of 33 seasons, several members of Bachelor Nation competed for the Mirrorball Trophy. They don’t always win, but over the past few years, there have been several champions from the fandom. Hannah Brown and Kaitlyn Bristowe won Seasons 28 and 29 respectively. And now, Joey Graziadei has won Season 33.
It’s always disappointing when a favorite contestant doesn’t win, but some DWTS fans have insisted the competition is rigged in favor of Bachelor Nation contestants.
All season long, Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong dominated the leaderboard. Many fans thought she was favored to win.
“I mean, in terms of dancing, it’s very clear. Chandler is great. If I had to close my eyes and go in terms of dancing, that’s it, it’s Chandler,” former pro dancer Keo Motsepe told The Sun in a recent interview.
Viewers Express Outrage On X, Feeling Chandler & Ilona Were ‘Robbed’
After DWTS wraps up for the year, it’s not at all uncommon for fans to threaten boycotts. After Tuesday’s finale, fans expressed outrage on the internet, believing that others were more deserving of the Mirrorball Trophy.
“America fears strong women but we aren’t a ready for that conversation yet…” one aggravated viewer shared on X, posting photos of third place winner Chandler Kinney and runner up Ilona Maher.

So far, all the finalists have expressed grace over the situation, even if they are a little sad about missing out on the Mirrorball Trophy.

If the show continues the current scoring format of 50% judges and 50% viewers, it will continue to be a bit of a popularity contest. Was Bobby Bones the best dancer when he won? No! Bachelor Nation contestants have only won 4 or 5 times out of 33 seasons.
The other issue that has been unfair are the people with dance experience competing against those without. Should be separate casts.
I think you are right there. They need to have a Dancing with Pro’s if they want perfection. I do not think anyone should be in the show with previous dance experience.
Joey was the best
He followed all the constructive suggestions. All the contestants worked hard but he just shined.
All the finalists were great but the voters chose the winner.
Joey and Jenna deserved to win! With no dance experience Joey turned out to be the best non-professional dancer. Danny Ilona and Steven improved tremendously during the season but were not the best dancer! Chandler was excellent but was an experienced dancer entering the competition. America voted and Joey and Jenna won the popular vote! This was the best season ever in my opinion! And the most votes ever in the history of the show!
