Diddy’s Bizarre House Arrest Suggestion Denied
A judge recently rejected an unusual house arrest proposal for Sean “Diddy” Combs. The news came out during a bail hearing this past Friday. Since his arrest back in September, Diddy’s legal team has submitted a variety of bail proposals for the mogul.
The Judge Immediately Rejected The Proposal
Diddy appeared at a bail hearing at a New York City court on November 22. His legal team proposed a surprising idea as the mogul spends his incarceration.
Ever since his arrest back in September, the mogul is currently stationed at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. However, his legal team has both spoken out against the center and repeatedly tried to have Diddy placed under house arrest.
During the recent hearing, Diddy’s attorney’s suggested that Diddy could be placed under house arrest at his mansion on Star Island in Florida. Notably, this property was raided by federal agents back in March.
This private island home only has one way off the island, with Diddy having a dock. However, per the proposal, he would not have access to a boat during his house arrest.
U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the proposal. As he shared, “That is not going to work.” Subramanian had been designated to oversee Diddy’s criminal case back in October.
Diddy’s Legal Team Also Came Prepared With A Backup Plan
The mogul’s legal team then offered an alternate idea. He would still be placed under house arrest, but at his apartment on the Upper East Side.
This plan would come with 24/7 security, including a downstairs guard. Diddy also wouldn’t have access to the internet or phone during this time, outside of contact with his legal team. Diddy’s security team would also manage any of these calls.
Added to this, Diddy wouldn’t be allowed to have visitors outside of his legal team. The mogul would also be allowed to receive visits from family members, assuming they were pre-approved and monitored by security.
As previously reported, the mogul’s family recently sent a video to him at the center, wishing him a happy birthday. At the time, Diddy’s son, Christian “King” Combs, also said he would take over his father’s Instagram account. Diddy’s mother and children also appeared during the court hearing.
As noted by Us Weekly, Diddy’s legal team claimed it would be “substantially more restrictive” than Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, also claimed the guards selected would make sure to perform their job well since they know they’re involved in a high profile case.
This currently marks Combs’ fourth bail request, with him being denied bail three times beforehand. A decision on Diddy’s bail is expected next week. The mogul’s trial is expected to take place in May 2025.
