'Gold Rush' Fred Lewis Says Challenges Coming, But He's Ready

Gold Rush fans have come to know Fred Lewis as a veteran medic and a miner on the show. With the series entering its 15th season, there was speculation that he wouldn’t be returning. However, Lewis recently shared an update on his life on social media.

Fred Lewis Noted The ‘Next Few Months’ Will Be Challenging

As seen on Instagram, Lewis could be seen enjoying a vacation in Maui with his wife Khara. The two appeared swimming together in a photo.

Lewis shared in the caption, “Soaking it all in, sunshine, saltwater and my boo @kharalewis. Embrace the moments you have!

The TV personality noted that there would be a “Whole lot of changes coming our way.” He also noted that the “next few months are definitely gong to be a challenge for my family.” However, he felt that, “we are ready for it, but for now it’s time to recharge so we can take on any obstacles we meet.”

During this time, Lewis has been dedicating his time and focus on his physical and mental health. As noted by Meaww, Lewis had to leave his family behind as he hit the road.

The Gold Rush Miner Is Going On A Trip

As Lewis shared on social media, “Saying goodbye to the family is never easy. He also admitted that “a four-day drive does not sound fun, either.” However, he felt that, “Sometimes, when life gives you lemons, you gotta chug down lemon juice and get on with it!”

Lewis is planning on visiting Wyoming and Salt Lake City, before eventually returning home to Fort Bragg. He also gave his thanks to Maui, noting, “Thank you Maui for the well needed recharge.

Lewis added that, “This isn’t going to be easy on me, but I know it’s the right move! @kharalewis will hold down the fort I’m not concerned about that, just gonna miss the family and my pups.”

As mentioned, fans were speculating if Lewis would return to the show during the 15th season. In fact, some were even surprised to see him make an appearance in a season 14 episode, “Down, but Not Out.”

During his time on the show, Lewis primarily appeared in seasons 11 through 13. In addition to Gold Rush, Lewis is also credited in appearing in a few of the show’s related shows and projects. These include Gold Rush: The Dirt, Gold Rush: Winter’s Fortune, Gold Rush: Band of Brothers, and Gold Rush: Parker’s Trail. His wife Khara has also appeared in these projects.
