Real Reason ‘Yellowstone’ Is Not Streaming On Paramount+
Yellowstone Season 5B has finally begun, and the show will race to its conclusion. There are only six episodes remaining, with the finale coming on December 15. However, fans hoping to tune in after the fact to Paramount+ got a rude awakening. The show is not streaming on Paramount+ at all.
Here is why the Paramount Network show isn’t on Paramount+ and where fans can find it.
Yellowstone Not Streaming On Paramount+
Yellowstone is not on Paramount+ streaming. This seems strange to many fans, because the show does air on the Paramount Network, making it unclear what has happened. If fans don’t DVR the episodes, they have no chance to catch up on them on Paramount’s own streaming service.
However, all hope is not lost. Yellowstone has never had a streaming deal with Paramount+ for the episodes during the season. The episodes have never been added to that streaming service until each season has ended. That is because Paramount+ did not exist when Yellowstone first started.
To pick out a streaming service at that time, Paramount Network made a deal to make Peacock its streaming home. That deal is still in place, as it always has been, and fans can see the show as it airs on Peacock after the first-run episode airs on Paramount Network.
What Happened To John Dutton On Yellowstone?
Fans came into the final Yellowstone episodes wondering how they would write Kevin Costner’s John Dutton out of the series. While some thought it was a misdirection and Costner would return somehow, the show wasted no time in showing that John was gone for good.
John Dutton is dead. The cold opening of Yellowstone Season 5B showed the discovery of John Dutton’s dead body. He was killed just minutes into the episode when he was found with a single gunshot wound. At first, everyone thought it was a suicide, including his daughter.
However, it turns out that he was killed in a murder-for-hire scheme that Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri) arranged. Sarah is the girlfriend of estranged Dutton brother Jamie (Wes Bentley). Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) has vowed to kill Jamie before reuniting with her husband Rip (Cole Hauser).
Fans were not happy (via PEOPLE):
- “John Dutton deserved to go out like a gladiator, not a victim. Completely undoes the series.”
- “If THAT’S how they decide to end a great character like John Dutton… THAT’S BULLS—-“
- “Shame on you Taylor Sheridan. Boooooooo!!! He deserved better.”
Yellowstone airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Paramount Network.
