‘RHONY’ Fans Slam Reboot, Long For OG Cast
RHONY fans are slamming the reboot, which has been running for two seasons now. It is not that they are completely unhappy with the show but viewers are longing for the OG cast. So, what are fans saying about the two casts and what do you they miss the most? Keep reading for more details.
RHONY Reboot Takes Major Dip From Legacy Series
After Season 13 of RHONY, production and Bravo knew something had to be done. The cast was not the same and there were some behind-the-scenes issues. OG cast member, Ramona Singer had clashed with newcomer, Eboni K. Williams. Allegedly, she had made some racist remarks, and the reunion was postponed and then ultimately canceled. The network decided to put the show on pause as they figured out their next steps. It was unclear if they would bring it back or do a complete reboot, maybe both. The ultimate decision was to do two shows, one with OG or legacy cast members and another filled with newbies.
Unfortunately, the legacy version fell through, some say because of money issues. A full-on reboot came along and initially, it was very well received. It was a breath of fresh air and the cast was fun and different. As for the OG ladies, Bravo found a cost-effective way to bring the women together. Dorinda Medley, Kelly Bensimon, LuAnn De Lesseps, Kristen Taekman, Ramona Singer, and Sonja Morgan were cast on RHUGT Legacy. This was a smash hit and fans went crazy for it.
Now, with the RHONY reboot in its second season, ratings have sunk and fans are longing for the OG women. According to The Sun, the Bravo series has seen its lowest ratings in fifteen seasons. The November 5th episode received 281,000 same-day viewers but, in all fairness, that was election day. Many networks opted to not air any new shows that night. Yet, the season high was 358,000. In the OG days, millions tuned in so this is a considerable drop. For example, Season 3 saw 2 million/week while Seasons 6 through 12 saw 1.5 million viewers/week.
Fans Are Over The Reboot
At this point, fans are over the RHONY reboot and want the OG cast back. The match does not light and the ratings are reflective of that:
- New RHONY is unwatchable – I can’t care. I watched every episode of the first season and willed it to engage me. But I can’t care or relate
- i’ve tried this is unwatchable. bring back the ogs for the love of all that’s holy
- Bethenny,Dorinda,Sonja,Luann, Tinsley, Ramona, Carole on Rhony is all I want for Christmas 🎄 👍
- Ugh. They’re all boring and basic. I miss the old cast.
It is clear that the viewers have spoken and they do not care to watch the new cast. However, this allegedly has caused some panic in the Bravo world as they do not know what to do now. Hopefully, there is some resolution as this franchise is too beloved to lose.
