‘Deadliest Catch’ Jake Anderson Fighting To Keep Job, Why?
This season on Deadliest Catch, Jake Anderson seems to have a running storyline where his job is in danger. Many fans have noticed that Jake is always talking about needing to produce more crab or he will lose his job. This is confusing to many, who see Jake as very successful.
Here is what you need to know about Jake and why he feels his job is in danger.
Jake Anderson Worried He Will Lose Deadliest Catch Job?
Jake Anderson has been talking a lot this season on Deadliest Catch about his fear that he could lose his job if he doesn’t start catching more crabs. This has confused fans, who say that he is always near the top of the leaderboards in terms of how much everyone is catching.
A Reddit thread was started with one viewer saying that “the season leaderboard though shows him with highest dollar take for the season.” The OP wanted to know what it is they are not seeing, as well as why Jake was worried if he was catching so much.
Some of the commenters explained possible reasons:
- “I think its that all boats have different quotas and capacities, i notice Kieth seems to always have plenty quota and hes always at the top of the leaderboard his boat is one of the bigger ones too”
- “I thought maybe that’s how he motivates himself, could also just be fake drama for the show.”
- “Jake had an ownership stake in saga, he doesn’t on this new boat. He is an employee and if he doesn’t perform can be fired just like a deck hand.”
Most people pointed to the Saga as a big reason, and that really plays into Jake’s story.
Jake Anderson Lost His Vessel & Is Working For Someone Else Now
Jake Anderson started his career as a crabbing fisherman on the Northwestern, but he was able to move up. He got his own vessel, the F/V Saga, but he lost it when it ended up being repossessed. Jake learned quickly how he could lose everything in an instant.
Now, Jake works on the F/V Titan Explorer. However, he has no ownership stake in this vessel, and he is working on there as an employee. This means if he doesn’t pull in as much as he should on the vessel, they could let him go and move on with other workers.
However, in reality, this is most likely just part of the storyline. He was added to the vessel because of his connections. He has the skills needed to be a good fisherman. Deadliest Catch likes its drama, and that is more than likely all this is.
