The Real Reason People Are Watching ‘The Golden Bachelorette’
Joan Vassos said that people are watching The Golden Bachelorette for romance but social media posts revealed the real reason. Keep reading to see what it is.
Does Joan Vassos Find Love?
Joan Vassos has spent the last three years mourning her late husband, John. He died in 2021 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. As sad as losing her husband was, she believed he would want her to find love again. She was a contestant on The Golden Bachelor but left the show early to deal with a family situation.
She’s back as the first Golden Bachelorette. Her season is rapidly approaching the finale. There are just four suitors left as Joan heads into Hometown Dates. Does she find love at the end of her journey?
Fans will have to tune in to find out but Joan has said that she’s happy with how her season ends.
The Real Reason People Are Watching The Golden Bachelorette
The Golden Bachelorette has put a spotlight on dating in our senior years. The show has given newfound hope to many people who found themselves unexpectedly single later in life. Some viewers think the show is a little too depressing, with many of the men talking about losing their wives.
But for other viewers, the attraction of the show isn’t finding out if Joan finds love. Viewers absolutely adore the bromance brewing between the men in the Bachelor mansion.
Fans were devastated when contestant Charles Ling went home, but the men in the house were the ones truly heartbroken. The official Golden Bachelorette Instagram shared a deleted scene of some of the men performing a synchronized swimming routine in the mansion’s pool.

But Are They Tuning In?
Ratings for The Golden Bachelorette are anywhere near as good as they were for Gerry Turner’s season of The Golden Bachelor. According to TV Line, his season averaged 4.7 million viewers, while Joan Vassos’ season only garners 2.7 million. But the outlet noted that Gerry Turner’s season aired during the 2023 writer’s strike when sitcoms and other shows were off the air.
However, the poor ratings of Golden Bachelorette are affecting ABC’s stand-out comedy, Abbott Elementary. Wednesday nights used to be the network’s comedy line-up but football forced ABC to move The Golden Bachelorette from Mondays to Wednesdays.
Abbott Elementary airs in the half-hour after The Golden Bachelorette. But the dating show isn’t bringing in many viewers to the comedy, causing it to drop in ratings. Fans will have to wait a few months to find out if Abbott Elementary gets another season despite poor ratings.

I love seeing the men on the show not much drama. They’re all having a good time and they seem so happy and friendly with each other. I think that’s absolutely great. I also love Joanne. I think she’s doing fantastic job.
