Jimmy Johnson’s Honest Mistake Causes Co-Hosts To Lose It

Jimmy Johnson

Every week, millions of fans tune into FOX NFL Sunday as folks like Terry Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan, and Howie Long offer their expert opinions on the games taking place. It’s no surprise that the show is so popular since these folks once dominated the field both as coaches and players. They often exchange banter as if they’re still in an NFL locker room today. Jimmy is the oldest member of the crew, at 81 years old. He still brings tons of energy and excitement whenever he talks ball. He even caught a pass from a special guest during the show. However, he had a slight blunder recently, which caused his co-hosts to give him a hard time.

What Was Jimmy Johnson’s Mistake?

Current NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford made a guest appearance on the show, which meant he was the perfect person to talk with Terry Bradshaw. Both men are Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks and know what it takes to bring home the most coveted trophy in the game. After the two finished talking about the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers matchup, Johnson came onto the screen.

At first, he discussed the New Orleans Saints. The problem was he was supposed to be talking about the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos. It looked quite odd since the screen showed Justin Herbert and Bo Nix, the Chargers and Broncos quarterbacks. But Johnson completely forgot the game he was supposed to talk about. This sent everyone into a frenzy, as most of the crew poked fun at Johnson’s age and the fact that he was bringing up the wrong game. However, given the fact that both teams that were previously being discussed are in the NFC South, as are the Saints, it truly seemed to be an honest mistake. Johnson took it in stride, though, which is why fans love him.

Jimmy Johnson’s NFL Accolades

While Jimmy Johnson wasn’t quite the same caliber of player as the other guys on screen, he still boasts one of the most impressive football resumes. Johnson is most known for his time as the coach of the Miami Hurricanes collegiate team and Dallas Cowboys in the early 1990s. With the Hurricanes, Johnson continued the tradition of one of the greatest teams in college football. He won the 1987 title with the Hurricanes and likely would have won more. However, he made the jump to the NFL.

Few coaching positions in all of sports come with more scrutiny than the Dallas Cowboys. Johnson was ready, though, and brought the Cowboys back-to-back Super Bowl titles in the early 1990s. However, Johnson and owner, Jerry Jones, didn’t see eye to eye on everything. He was shortly fired and has worked on television since leaving the Miami Dolphins in 1999.
