‘Today’ Al Roker Says Hoda Kotb Is ‘Not Leaving The Family’

Hoda Kotb Is A Key Part Of The Today Show’s Success
The Today Show is a news station that’s been a source since 1952. With 73 seasons, viewers are sure to take notice of changes. With news being quickly and easily accessible on phones, the show needs to be quite entertaining to hold the attention of its viewers.
Before working on the NBC morning show, Hoda Kotb was a reporter for the TV news magazine program, Dateline NBC. Now, the American broadcast journalist, television personality, and author is a main co-anchor for Today and a co-host of the show’s entertainment-focused fourth hour.
At 60 years old with two young girls, there’s no question why Kotb has announced her departure. However, after almost 2 decades, she is sure to be missed by fans as well as her co-stars. Furthermore, she announced that she would be leaving at the beginning of next year.
Al Roker Has Hope That Hoda Kotb Is Not Closing The Door On The Show
HELLO! spoke to Roker about his latest cookbook, Al Roker’s Recipes To Live By. Moreover, he co-wrote the book with his daughter Courtney Roker Laga who is an actual chef. He also discussed Hoda’s departure.
Roker explained, “You know, it would be more bitter than sweet if she was leaving, leaving. She’s just transitioning into a different role.” In addition, he discussed Kotb’s priority, family. Although Roker and his wife, Deborah Roberts are “in a different place” as they have older kids who no longer live at home, he gets how Kotb wants to hold onto those precious moments.
Additionally, the cookbook author noted, “Hers are just, you know, they’re little ones, and she wants to spend that time with them. So I completely get it.” Also, he repeated, “She’s not leaving the family. So at the end of the day, I’m happy for her.”
Speaking on the ever-growing show, the host expresses, “the great thing about the Today Show” is “the sum is greater than its equal parts. “So no matter what happens, we’re going to be in great shape.” Furthermore he added that the show which has managed to stick around for so long is “built to evolve.”
Roker reflects on the truth that time goes on, people change and people leave. Moreover, he stated, “Each one of us is very fortunate to be in this position, for however long we have, and then we pass the baton off to somebody else. So the future of the show is just as strong and bright no matter who steps in.”
