Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos co-host Live with Kelly and Mark. They often share stories about their family on the show. The anecdotes about their family life have quickly become a much-loved daily segment. On the October 7th episode, Kelly revealed that she’s been lying to her kids.
Kelly Ripa’s Big Fib
During Monday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly and Mark discussed how their weekend went. Kelly went out of town this weekend to visit her niece during the University of Minnesota’s family weekend. While Kelly was away she left Mark at home to take care of the family’s two dogs Lena and Chewie.
Kelly and Mark soon started having a hilarious debate about the ages of Lena and Chewie. The couples’ debate centered around how old Chewie was. They said that they have told the kids so many different things that they can’t keep track of how old Chewie actually is!
Mark asked Kelly “Chewie’s looking at me, she’s 18 or 17, what is she?” Kelly replied, “She’s 18, I’m not sure that’s true, but she’s old.” Mark said. “She’s 18.” Kelly explained, “We’ve been lying to the kids about her age for so long that we forget her actual age!” Seems like Kelly and Mark need to check their vet records to solve this debate!
Mark went on to explain that while he was taking Chewie on a walk he lost his keys. He said that he panicked when he could not find his keys. Mark said his first thought was to call Kelly for help, but he had second thoughts about sharing her number with someone he met on the street. Thankfully in the end Mark remembered where a spare set of keys was and everything ended up good.
Mark And Kelly’s Empty Nest

All three kids have moved out and are in their own places. Michael lives in Brooklyn and is an aspiring actor. Lola splits her time between NYC and London working on promoting her music. Joaquin is currently a student at the University of Michigan.
Kelly and Mark are incredibly close with their children. They describe their children as down-to-earth even though they had a privileged upbringing. Kelly said in a recent interview, “We want to raise productive people who are thoughtful and selfless.” She continued “I wanted to raise good, caring, generous, thoughtful people who are professional, who are polite, who don’t expect the world handed to them.”
Ripa said that she doesn’t see the kids very often now that they are off living their best lives. She said that the family tries to spend the majority of holidays together and really makes that time together special.
In a recent article, Mark mentioned how nice spending time with his kids and their partners is. He said “It was lovely…it was really nice people to spend time with. They did a great job. We love them all. I just was really proud of the fact that our kids wanted to hang out with us.” Mark continued “That’s kind of the goal after you raise them and we’re still raising them, but they’re adults, so we’re not really, we’re kind of done. They’re on their own for the most part. But I was just really thrilled and honored that my kids would want to spend time with me and my wife, and not be embarrassed by bringing their boyfriend or a girlfriend around.”
