Why Jennifer Lopez’s ‘F***ing World Exploded’ After Divorce

It seemed like the whole world was rooting for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck when they reconnected for marriage in 2022. They were the talk of the town as a Hollywood power couple in the early 2000s, but their original engagement did not result in a marriage. As a reminder, Ben first popped the question to J-Lo in 2002 with a 6-carat diamond. She said “yes,” but their relationship wasn’t built to last back then. After reconnecting years later and finally tying the knot, it seemed like they were finally on the right track. But ultimately, she filed for divorce in August 2024. Here’s what she just openly admitted about their failed marriage.

Jennifer didn’t hold back when talking about the nitty-gritty details of her divorce. The ex-couple went from starring in her music video for “Jenny on the Block” together to fielding questions from paparazzi about why they were unable to stand the test of time. As uncomfortable as divorce conversations might be, Jennifer still got candid with Interview Magazine. She said:

”I think, with everything that’s happened in my life and in my relationships and even in my career, it’s like, give yourself a bit of comfort and love. We’ve been through a lot of things that nobody knows about, and you’ve persevered and you refuse to give up and to let it get you down. There’s something to be said for that because things can really change your life in a way that you do want to give up and say, ‘F*** this, this is too hard, I don’t want to do this anymore.’But I’m not there. I refuse to not give myself everything that little girl deserves.”

J-Lo went on to say that, despite doing all the work to build herself up and land in a good spot, her “f***ing world exploded” anyway. Is there any chance Jen and Ben will reconcile to repair the damage done to their marriage? As of now, that seems highly unlikely. She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, and she already legally dropped “Affleck” from her last name.
